ROSE

It was a sunny day. The sunlight went through the window curtains, lightening the room. The sound of the people in the market, which is not so far away from the castle, could be heard all the way from here, my bedroom.

Well it is not exactly MY bedroom. It’s also Adele, Daphne, Tessa, Phyllis, and Collins’ bedroom too. The room itself is enormous it’s probably one of the largest. I think it’s also bigger than my parents’— the King and the Queen’s— room too.

But it’s greatly designed. All of us have our own corners that we can decorate with anything that we like. For example, Tessa’s is decorated with lots of her sketches. She loves to sketch basically everything. There’s the market, the royal garden, people, mountains, woods, more people, everything.

Adele’s decorated with classic furniture. She loves classic. There’s a violin on her 50s desk, and a couple of old music sheet. She can play the violin as well as the piano and she’s thinking of learning how to play the saxophone.

My side of the bedroom is decorated with shelves and shelves of books. Literature, novels, poetries, you can find it all here. I love to read. It gives me a chance to live a different life, be someone different, and think differently. It helps me understand how different people think. I love it.

Adele is the oldest daughter in our family, which means she is going to take the throne once she is twenty one year-old. Tessa and Daphne are twins, but they have a completely different personalities. But aside from that, they get along pretty well. Then comes Phyllis, then I, Rose, and the youngest is Collins.

Being in the Royal Family is great and everything, but everything has its pros and cons. We’re wealthy, which means we have everything that we need— even more than we need. But we’re The Royal Family, which means everyone will be looking up to us and we’ll be their role model.

We live a boring live. Basically we spend our days here in the castle. The routine is the same every day. Sure the castle is big and all, but if you live fifteen years of your life in it, like me, you would remember every single room, every single hall and every single secret the place has to offer.

Today, though, is our lucky day. The King, our father decided that it is now time for us to explore the outsides. It felt like years since the last time I was out from the castle. He said that we should know more of our own kingdom and acknowledge its beauty. But I don’t really care why he decided to send us out of the castle, as long as I can be out of it. He said to wear something simple that wouldn’t cause too much attention.

So today Adele, Daphne, Tessa, Phyllis, and I are going to go to the city. Collins is not going to go because she’s too young.

“Hey Daphne! Have you seen my hair brush?” Phyllis asked from her side of the room. We’re all getting ready to go out. “No, are you sure you didn’t leave it in the bathtub like the last time?” Daphne raised both of her eyebrows.

“No! Has ANYONE seen my hair brush?” Now Phyllis was throwing everything to the floor to find her brush. “You can just borrow mine” I said. She turned, and sighed. “Fine” She said taking the hair brush from me.

“Does this look good on me?” Tessa was wearing a mini dress with sparkles on them. She was looking at her own reflection in the mirror. “Um… that’s definitely not simple” Daphne said loud enough for Tessa to hear.

“Well, you are certainly not wearing that to the town today. It will draw attention” Adele said, shaking her head once. Tessa sighs. “Fine” She puts of her sparkly mini dress and look for another one in her closet.

It was a chaos. Everyone was overly excited to go beyond the castle gates. I couldn’t blame them. I too am very excited. I opened my closet and look quickly at everything that I have. I have many dresses, but most of them is not… well, simple.

I tried looking and looking again until I finally found a dress that I might be able to wear to the town. It was a simple white knee-length dress, with a big blue bow on the back of my waist. I put it on. It looked nice and simple.

I turned to look at the others. They’re all ready too. “Come on! Let’s go!” Adele said. “But I want to go too!” Collins said, loud enough for all of us to hear. We all turned to her. Adele approached her and kneel in front of her so she’s in the same height as Collins.

“Collins, you’re too young. When you’re older, mom and dad will give you permission to go to the town with us.” Adele answered, smiling to our little sister.

“But I’m a big girl! I can take care of myself!” Collins insisted, crossing her arms in front of her. Adele laughs. “Well I’m sure you can take care of yourself, but we’re just worried that you might get lost in town” Adele said.

“But I want to go!” Collins said, still insisting. “When you are older, you will go” Adele assured her.

       “Promise?”
“Promise” Adele smiled. “Okay” Collins said. The frown on her face disappeared, but I can tell that she’s still disappointed that she couldn’t go with us.

“Okay then, we are going to go. I’ll buy you some cookies” I said, smiling. Collins smiled.

Adele went downstairs. I grab my blue purse with me and followed Adele and the others downstairs.
