We took a quick breakfast before we go and then went to Mr. Johnson, one of the guards that had worked for us for nearly seven hears. Mom and dad really trust Mr. Johnson, and he’s going to be our guide in the town.
“Oh look at you princesses. Ready to go?” He asked. “Yes, now come on! Don’t be slow” Tessa said, walking in front of everyone. Adele just shrugged and followed her to the carriage.
Since there are six of us, we need two carriages. Adele, Phyllis and I will take the first carriage while Daphne, Tessa, and Mr. Johnson take the second one. All of us get inside the carriages and then a moment later we’re going to the castle gates.
This is it, I thought. I’ve always wanted to do this, go explore outside and now it’s finally happening. The gate keeper opened the gate for us and allows us to pass. Trees and villages surrounded us, left and right.
It was all simple, but beautiful. It took about a half an hour until we finally arrived in town. We pass many beautiful sights on the way, they were all amazing. I never thought that I would be able to see these things. It seems like mom and dad had kept us locked inside the castle for too long.
The town was very busy. There were people everywhere. We got off the carriages and adjust ourselves to the new environment. Few people seemed to notice the royal carriage.
For a brief moment, we just stood there like idiots not knowing what to do. We look around. There were stores everywhere, lining up alongside of the road.
“Okay girls, so explore the town as you like, but remember to get back here at exactly three o’clock. Mr. Johnson is going to take care of the carriages” Adele turned to look at Mr. Johnson who’s nodding in agreement. “And don’t go too far! And stay out of trouble!” Adele continued.
Sometimes I really admire her. I mean, being the oldest of six sisters isn’t easy. Especially if you are taking your younger sisters to the town for the first time and they’re all over excited. I think she will be a great queen someday.
Daphne, Tessa, Phyllis, and I all nodded. And then we separated.
I look around, still not knowing where to go until I spotted something. A book shop. I smiled. Our castle library is nice and it has a complete collection of books, but I’ve never actually been in a bookstore before. I bet you they have a whole different kinds of books sold here.
I quickly walk towards the bookshop. It was not big, but it looks comfy and warm. The store has many windows, so there’s much light entering the room. I look around the shop. There were so many books. Some of them are stacked, some of them are put in wooden shelves. I
“Welcome, girl” An old lady greeted me with a smile. I smiled back. “What are you looking for?” She asked. “Oh… nothing in particular. I just want to look around” I answered. She nodded and went back to sit on her wooden chair.
The shop was pretty much empty, except for me, the old lady, and a boy who was maybe about my age. He was looking at a book, looking at its cover.
I approach him. “Never judge a book by its cover” I said. He turned to see me, and smiled. I smiled back. “No, I wasn’t judging it by the cover”
“Oh really?”
“Yes, really. My friend actually recommended this to me, he says it’s a good book”“Let me see” He handed me the book. The Catcher in the Rye. It IS actually a good book, one of my favorites actually. I’ve read it over and over again.
