KIITANA
It's been two weeks since the concert, and I'm starting to get over what had happened between X and I. About a day after that encounter, I had eventually opened up about the situation towards Imani. Thankfully, she was understanding and told me that he wasn't exactly a social butterfly either. That made me a little more relieved, since I know that he wasn't judging me.
We did end up going shopping for a few causal outfits for myself before starting the school year.
I was a little skeptical about it at first, but I knew that a slight change wouldn't be so bad after all.
I did get a chance to talk to my mother later on that evening, and she said that it was good that I've found a friend, along with going to that concert. She had mentioned that I should keep venturing out on things that I've never done before because that's a part of life.
It was currently Friday afternoon, and I've just finished my two o'clock class-- the last one of the day.
Mani was supposed to come to my dorm in a few minutes so that we can get ready for the party on campus together. As for right right now, I was jotting down a few more notes in my booklet to be prepared for the syllabus quiz next week for my English class. This assignment is so easy, so I expect an A right off the bat.
A sound went off from my phone, and I dropped my pencil to reach for the device to read the notification.
👌Mani: girl open the door
I shook my head at the message, pushing back from desk before getting up to go get the door. I turned the knob, and as expected, Imani was standing their holding a few bags.
"Hey, girl! Time to get all cute." She squealed, brushing by me as I close the door behind her.
I followed after her, watching as she sat the bags down on my bed to dig through them.
"So, what's the party about again?" I asked her, heading over to my closet to choose an attire for the evening.
"Just a random one, nothing special."
I nodded as a response, tugging a hanger off the rack that held an outfit that I will be wearing for later on. Placing it on the bed, I had caught a glimpse of some of the things she had bought, which some look like it specifically decor for her own dorm.
It was cute.
I don't have much decoration for my walls, but I'm thinking about it.
Now that I think about it, I have yet to see her dorm. Judging by what she tells me, mine is bigger than hers, so she likes being in mine quite a lot.
Not trying to brag or anything, but having a full ride to any HBCU of my choice has its perks, especially when I'm in the honors program.
But besides all that, I'm really starting to like having Imani around-- she's a true friend.
It was currently nine in the evening, and Mani and I had finally made it to the frat house where the party is supposed to be. On our way walking to the destination, you could faintly hear the music bumping once you've crossed the quad area.
This must be some party.
There was already people scattered on the front lawn of the house that were drinking, dancing or just chatting with one another.
Once we've made it inside, the music was much louder and there was people everywhere having too much of a good time. The strange odor of alcohol and musk filled my nose when we went through the living room area. I had to catch myself from passing out right then and there because of it.
Yes, it was that bad.
It was a small little clearing near the couches as we approach it, the scent being a lot more bearable the closer we got. There was two people already sitting down, and there was drop feeling in the pit of my stomach when Imani called out to them suddenly.
"Ski!"
I immediately grabbed onto her wrist, and she had turned to look at me with slight guilt feeling her eyes.
"Please tell me that guy isn't here, too." I spoke frantically, nipping on the inside of my cheek.
She shifted her gaze away from me, "I mean, yeah.."
"What?! Why didn't you tell me? Oh my God."
"Because I had a feeling you wouldn't come, okay?"
I shook my head in disappointment, letting go of her to fold my arms.
"Look, just don't worry about him. Do your own thing, and have a good time, alright? I promise I'll make up for this."
I rolled my eyes, "Fine. I'm going to go get something to drink."
I had then turned around to find the kitchen, getting annoyed by the people that were in my way. There was a couple I had to brush by that were practically dry humping each other at the moment.
It was just nasty.
My whole mood had changed just like that, and I just don't know what to think anymore. I know that I can't stay mad at Mani, I mean, she probably wanted to be around her brother. So, she can't prevent X from tagging along because of me anyway.
I passed by the counter to open up the fridge to get a bottle of water, closing it back to twist the top to get a sip from it. I took a step back, getting ready to head back, but my backside was pressed against something warm and broad.
I was a bit startled, looking over my shoulder to see who it was behind me.
I wasn't even surprised to see the person at all, moving away from them to go find my friend. But a hand rested on my hip to prevent me to going any further.
"Do you mind? I'm just trying to make the best of this night." I scolded him, shoving his hand away from me.
X smacked his lips, "I'm just trying to talk to you for a minute. Stop being stubborn."
"I'm being stubborn? You have some nerve." I scoffed, followed by a tasteless chuckle.
"Let's just go somewhere to talk, please?"
I didn't respond right away, trying to decide if I really want to work things out with him. I mean, he made me feel not welcomed when we met, and that's a feeling that I wanted to avoid ever since high school. But based on what Imani told me about him, he probably didn't mean to.
I guess, but I'm keeping my guard up, though.
"Make it quick."
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for the delay, y'all. I've been getting my housing and orientation stuff out of the way for college next year. Plus, graduation is around the corner! I can't wait, I still can't believe I'm about to be an adult.
Other than that, I hope you've enjoyed and chapter seven will be out soon.
Thanks for reading.
