Ashley
When I was going to school, every morning was a new day, full of new experiences, new lessons, new opportunities and decisions. Another day I should live for.
Most of the time, I tried not to think about love. I tried not to think about him or other guys. They could make life complicated. After all, my life was almost perfect. I mean, I loved my life. I had all I needed because I was breathing, I would pass every obstacle because of the people who loved me and I was happy enough. But there are just some things we couldn’t stop hoping for.
I was sitting in class, he was my classmate. Whenever he was around, my eyes seemed to have magnets that would always find him. I couldn't help it. He was so close but I couldn't do anything as if we were a thousand miles apart. I always felt this insecurity, this low self esteem inside me, this loser gut. I trembled, I stuttered, I lost it whenever he was there. I simply wished he wouldn't find out. I was afraid if he did, he would avoid me.
I had lunch with my friends. We normally talked about random things, nothing in particular. I was thankful to have them. They never left me in the ups and downs of life.
"Are you guys coming to the concert next Monday?" Rhonna asked. She was talking about the annual fund-raising concert in our school. The tickets were cheap so came.
Martha nodded. "Ash, I think Elly will play with his band."
"I thought he left the band."
"Those were rumors." Trish said. "I saw them practice in the studio near our village."
"Come on, girls! I won't watch only because of him. I don't care if he's there or not." I told them. Partly true, partly convincing myself. I was also scared that he would come with a date. With Jane, his rumored crush, girlfriend, I didn't know exactly what she was in his life. But I knew she was a someone to him. Unlike me, a no body.
"Tell me about it." Trish sounded like she didn't believe me.
"What are you talking about?" Reinne emerged towards our picnic-table styled canteen table just like the rest of the tables were. He was our friend; he was a guy, yet feminine.
I replied, "About the concert thing on Monday."
"Ohhhh that. Everyone is talking about it." He started eating his lunch.
"We were wondering if Elly will play in the event." Martha said.
"I think he will. Some said he was kicked out of the band but I know he will still play as their electric guitarist."
"Where did you get those?"
He thought about it then smile. "My boyfriend told me."
"So you have a boyfriend now?" I asked him, raising my brow.
He folded his arms together and raised his brows as well. "Yeah, I do. But he doesn't know." He laughs.
You could call our group crazy or whatever name you wanted, but there was one thing I was sure of. That we could be happy even without stepping over other people or hurting them.
"So are you guys going to come?" He asked.
I said, "Definitely."
