Chasing Me Down

Chapter 7

Jason skipped back as Leo slashed Apergia across his midsection before summoning Steve  as a long sword and quickly made up the distance between them. Jason who was unbalanced defended with his sword raised to fend off Steve, but Leo had already deduced that Jason's balance, or core, was  some where in his midsection . As Jason swung hardly in Steve to block Leo's attack, as he did, Leo closed in and stabbed Apergia's handle into his solar plexus.

Jason gasped losing his momentum and Leo grabbed his hand judo throwing him off the ring.

But Jason wouldn't give up that easily, Leo felt the air compress around him as Jason called on his gifted power to right himself Leo frowned as Jason levitated righting himself.

"Apergia, could you give Jason some trouble with the wind spirits?"

Apergia took on a human form infront of Leo before zooming towards a very surprised looking Jason. Apergia glowed a faint golden color  as Leo supported her with his energy.  Jason started toppling around jerking this way and that as he tried to control the spirits under him, Leo charged throwing Steve directly at Jason. Steve elongated into a spear as he caught a large portion of Jason's tee ripping it away before landing on the outside of the circle. Jason stopped  to stare at his shoulder in which Apergia took the chance to suspend his control over the air and Leo watched as Jason toppled head first into the ground.

Leo flounced over to check if he was conscious when Jason suddenly stood up his eyes blazing," Not bad new blood,"he said rising into the air," but let's see if you can do better." Jason pointed his sword to the heavens and Leo squinted as the clouds grew darker, thunder rumbled nearly bursting his eardrums as a shock of white lightning ripped through the sky coming straight at him, but Leo was ready, after the strike hit the ground Jason surveyed the ring taken aback after not spotting Leo.

Jason noticed that the audience was deathly silent and that everyones eyes were positioned behind him, he quickly swiveled around, but still didn't see Lucio. Jason suddenly went cold as something grabbed his feet and threw him of the ring.

Jason tried to stabilize himself as he flew out of the ring and was just about to get in when a wall of fire blocked his path.

"W-wha?" he turned to Piper confused," I thought he was a son of some wind god?!"

Everyone looked surprised but only Piper responded,"Umm, actually, he's a son of Hephaestus. I was surprised when Apergia  battled you for power over the wind spirits, she's only a spirit infesting a magic sword that Lucio created, but Leo was giving her some strength obviously, couldn't you see the golden light?!"

Jason blinked," I did notice the aura, but.....  I didn't think..."

Piper huffed happily," I think I should reassess you intelligence. I 'm better at deducing than oh so famous Jason Grace!"

Meanwhile Leo was getting bored wondering why it was taking so long for Jason to breakthrough his barrier so he had dismissed it to tune in on their conversation. Leo frowned as Apergia appeared next to him as he watched Steve waltz invisibly over Jason's head.

"What?" Jason gave a small smile," Well... you can do that, but I think you're spending too much time with Anna."

In the end some dude behind Piper walked up to the talking couple and nabbed Jason's foot and pushed him to the ground, "It's over Grace! Your were done in by our newest recruit whether you like it or not!" before turning to the cohort," Woohoo 3rd cohort! Cheers to Lucio!"

"Cheers to Lucio!!!"everyone thundered.

Leo smiled, he always wondered what it was like to be cheered at, he was starting to like his new life here, but the warmth was short lived as dread took his place, he wasn't here for enjoyment, he was here to set his wrong doings right.

Leo covered up his thoughts by displaying a huge grin on his face. A she turned to look at Piper and Jason, he was taken aback to see them staring at him, their eyes blank as if remembering a distant memory.

Leo turned away.
