Chasing Me Down

Chapter 9

Leo was stationed next to a tree onlooking the blue boundary, his messenger bag at his side, he was safely in the shadows of the trees as he listened silently to Apergia's report on the blue team, it's been around 30 seconds since the horn had rung signalling the start of the games and Leo couldn't help but think that he was participating in some reality TV show where people scrutinized him to see his worth.

As soon as the horn had rung(nearly bursting Leo's eardrums to pieces) Leo had teleported to the boundary and stood watch. He estimated the it would probably take him some time to get accustomed to the surroundings, one of his natural abilities was to sense heat near him, during his time away, he had learned to do it with any close heat source as well, making the current environment the perfect advantage for him and his team. Currently he felt 2 parties closing in. One was coming from behind him a little to the left, which he safely assumed was his team mates and the other was a group of 5 from the blue team's boundary.

He heard the blue team before he saw them a rustle amungst the thicket in front of him followed by a blonde speck of hair, Leo suspected that they saw him. He walked forward,"Hello there!"

Silence followed,"There's really no point in hiding,"Leo continued,"I can see your blonde hair!"

There was some grumbling behind the bush as 5 people appeared from behind the bush, the blonde hair belonged to a girl around 2 inches shorter than him, her grey eyes glowing in the torch light, her stance firm, her expression showed that she was the leader"I'm Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, you're a new recruit I presume, mind telling us your name and then maybe you could let us pass?" she asked nicely with a small smile her grey eyes dancing with amusement at his bright purple hair.

A boy with dark brown hair and dull brown eyes came up behind her,"Uh...Annabeth.... did you just tell the dude your name? This isn't the time to chat! Just knock him out or something! He's unarmed, he doesn't even have a knife! He's puny! Just let us be done with it and cross!"Leo decided he didn't like this dude, he decided to call him Dull Eyes.

The others agreed mumbling, Dull Eyes moved forward with his knife drawn before charging at Leo, Leo easily side stepped his attack and grabbed his leg flinging him into the air before summoning Steve. A little help? he asked.

Steve appeared in his hand in the form of a 50 pound sledge hammer with one of the ends a lot larger than the other with some kind of spring system on it. Leo smashed that end of his hammer against Dull Eyes' chest. Steve made a a noise like a chainsaw cutting through ice as Dull Eyes flew through the air screaming some colorful words.

Annabeth and her gang stared at their now flying team mate that was quickly disappearing from sight, they all winced as Dull Eyes yelled in pain as trees crackled under his weight followed by the surprised screams of their other team mates.

"Unarmed, my ass,"muttered a blonde guy behind Annabeth.

Leo chuckled as Apergia appeared in his other hand as a silver sword, Piper and her crew had appeared behind Leo and were racing to the other side, Piper did a little jig around Anna giving a haughty look before winking at Leo like, Hammer, smooth, before rushing of into the thicket.

Leo smiled back before turning to Annabeth and her team,"You guys didn't even try to stop them," he tutted turning Steve into a sword,"and to answer your question I'm Lucio Vale, son of Hephaestus, nice ta meet you Annabeth, I'm sorry to say though,"he smiled apologetically," I can't let you pass."

Annabeth frowned at him, the blonde dude behind her stared at Leo for a second before signalling the others to charge.

49 seconds later they were all sprawled out on the floor passed out only leaving Annabeth standing. Leo smiled at her, "Not fighting?"
