Chasing Me Down

Chapter 11

Leo was not happy.

Here he was again on borderline defense as the ear-shattering conch sounded signalling the start of the game.

The only difference this time was that he had no fire surrounding the border, sunlight was pounding down on his head and an overly enthusiastic Piper who seemed to be on 3 shots of espresso was dashing around from place to place keeping a look out. 

Leo groaned loudly, bonking his head against a nearby tree,"Why, " he groaned,"must I endure like this?"

Leo scowled as he heard Piper chuckle a little ways away.

He was going to throw back a snarky comment but jumped back as he felt something on his head,"Wha?"

Leo stared as a slender driad elegantly came out of the tree and smile whole heatedly at him,"Why aren't you just the cutest little demigod I've ever seen!!!!"

Leo stared at her aghast as she cooed at him circling him like a prized piece of art,"I love you clothes! You have such beee-autiful eyes! Oh honey! How in Olympus is your hair such a brilliant color?!"

You have to tell me darling! You must!"she exclaimed suddenly taking a hold of his shoulders and shaking him slightly.

Leo looked around at Piper as she jogged over to him with a pained expression.

"Ma'am,"Piper started politely,"could you please let him go? We're kind of in the middle of some really important game kinda thing you know?"

The driad glared at her,"Nonsense girl! No one is asking you. I'm talking to this beautiful boy right here, who is willing to talk to me," she huffed before giving Leo a dazzling smile brushing a strand of auburn hair behind her ear before turning around,"Hey Nara! Cielle! Just look at this boy's hair!!!"

Leo felt his stomach sink as 2 air spirits peaked out of the tree eyeing him curiously before floating toward him oohing at his hair.

Leo felt them turn him around as they felt his hair and murmured among themselves. Leo resisted the urge to huff but crossed his arms giving Piper a cross between an annoyed and a please-help-me look.

Piper sighed shrugging looking around with a worried look for any signs of the blue team approaching. 

Leo frowned staring at the ground and suddenly had an idea. 

"Hey Piper!"he whisper-yelled.

"Are there any rules to the games?"

Piper turned around frowning,"Not really," she paused," You're just not allowed to kill anyone, but other than that, no, not really. You're allowed to use anything in the vasinity." 

Leo grinned at Piper, nodding his head thoughtfully before turning to the nymphs,"Ladies!", he exclaimed,"I may have just the proposal for you."

Leo leaned casually against the tree as Piper looked at him skeptically. He had just come back from negotiating with the nymphs and had watched two of their teams cross the border.

"What's taking them so long?"Piper suddenly groaned flopping against Leo dramatically,"It's soooo hot!!!!!!!!!"

Leo shrugged, he wasn't sure, he just hoped that the blue team didn't gang up on their two teams, but he wasn't getting any feeds on movement from Appergia or Steve.

Frankly, he was bored out of his mind.

Thinking about Frank, Leo wondered how he was.

Suddenly he felt a draft from Appergia and Steve, getting up he motioned Piper to be on guard when he suddenly thought of something,"Hey Piper?"

Piper nodded acknowledging him before he spoke," Does this game have sound for the spectators?"

She arched her eyebrow and nodded asking a silent question as she trained her eyes at a specific patch of bushes on the other side.

Leo shrugged,"I may have bribed the nymphs back there with hair dye," matching the grin on Piper's face when she turned to him.

Not a moment too soon, they winced as they heard a strangled sort of noise and a hollow thunk .

"Owwwwww."

Leo held back a chuckle as he gave a thumbs up to Nia as she hovered over the top of the place where the sound had come from.

5 campers stumbled out into the clearance. Leo tried not to frown as he saw Jason clutch the side of his forehead in obvious pain. Percy was right behind him holding his back like an old man and cracking it with a groan,"Ughhhh, you just had to land on me Jace," he groaned lowly before glaring directly at Nia who just shrugged and disappeared in a puff of air.

Percy turned to Piper with a sly grin and a cocked eyebrow,"Really Pipes! Turning the air nomads against us now are we? How is that fair?"

Piper grinned," It wasn't charmspeak! All our newest camper Lucio here," she said as she twisted her blade in her hand. Leo frowned, he did not like how Piper was turning their attention to him. He did not look like an innocent bystander when he was grabbing black rope out of his bag.

Leo offered a small smile and wave as he pulled the last of the rope out of his bag,"Umm, hi," Leo frowned as Piper giggled beside him, before turning back to the campers"Sorry , but I'll need to tie you up now."

As fast as lightning, he flew over to one of the guys and wrapped the rope tightly around him and flung him towards the tree, he yelped in surprise as Leo tied him to the tree with impossible speed.

"Sorry bud,"he said that patting the confused looking dude on the cheek before turning to the others,"So, who's next?"

"It's really calming!"Piper chipped in, her voice dripping with charmspeak,"You can just close your eyes and have a nice little nap out in the open under the sun on this beautiful day!" she exclaimed like a commercial expert.

Leo grinned, he was liking where this was going.
