The sound of gravel flying up against the side of the truck forced me awake again, my hands jerking the wheel as I pulled the car back onto the road. I took a calming breath before looking towards Keith, his eyes wide as he gripped the sissy bar on the roof of the truck.
"Dude pull the fuck over, you're done driving." Keith growled out, relaxing back into his seat. I contemplated arguing back but stopped, easing the car to a stop. Keith practically ripped his door open as I took a moment to check on the others in the back. The only one who was awake was Pidge, her laptop lighting the back of the truck. She was to focused on the screen to realise we had stopped.
"Hurry the fuck up-" Keith held my door open, his brow squashed together in a frown. I slid out of the driver's seat and moved around to the other side. After a moment of silence, we were on the road once again.»»------««
I used to always think that driving in the rain was cliché and cute. You'd have the rain littering your window as the city lights would bounce off the droplets, the music softly droning as you get lost in the road.
The fact that the current station was continuing to broadcast the current help zones that had been lost to the rotters didn't help to make up for the let down of this rainy drive.
"God-" Keith slapped his hand across the wheel, turning the radio off. He ran a hand along his face and huffed, the wiper blades squelching as they rubbed the dropelts away. "Dude won't turn his brights off- I can't see the lines!" He growled, the steering wheel groaning under his grip. I held back a snicker, letting the sound of the wipers rock me into a lull. The car grew quiet for a while longer, flickering street lights flooding the cabin every now and again.
"Get off my ass, McDick Face!" Keith was practically shouting now, rolling the window down before giving the man behind us a welcoming gesture.
"The lines don't matter you dipshit, no one is driving back from the restock." Keith shot me a sideways glare. "We're too close to a military base for that." There was a moment of silence before the guy in the car behind us lay down on his horn, waking up Shiro and Allura.
"Fuck it- Lance give him the finger or some shit-" Keith growled, his grip tightening on the steering wheel; if that were even possible.
"Sure thing, man-" I grinned, rolling down my window before hoisting my torso out of it.
"What the fuck are you doing!" Keith snapped the back of his hand against my knee.
"Calm down, it's fine-" I sat on the car door, hooking my toes under the seat as I flipped the guy off with both hands. "SUCK ON THAT, ASSHOLE!" The guy smashed his horn again, but he pulled back enough to give us room.
"His brights are still on..." Keith almost pouted as I sat back down, rolling up my window.
"You want me to flash him back?" I grinned.
"I'd prefer your pants stay on, thank you."
"Ah, that's too bad, you're missing out-"
"There's not really much to miss out on though." Keith grinned slyly, drumming his fingers against the wheel. I slapped his arm before we quieted down, the only disturbance being the swish of the wipers.
