Dangerous Paths

"Who the hell was that, Damon?" Stefan asks his brother, as they meet up again on the road. Stefan had just saved those 3 mysterious college girls and Damon is mildly annoyed about the momentary mission creep.

"It was just some vampire trying to get a midnight snack. Did you really have to play hero and save them?" Damon asks, rolling his eyes.

"Believe it or not brother, human lives actually matter." Stefan says.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He responds. Suddenly Damons eyes glint with something mischievous.

"Oh no, Damon, what are you thinking now?" Stefan asks.

"Maybe you were onto something, brother. The guy who attacked the girls is probably the same dick who's been messing with us." Damon starts walking and Stefan runs up to catch up with him. "So here's the plan. Those girls are gonna be our bait for catching our stalker." Damon says, walking along the road.

"Wait a second, Damon-"

"Brother, you don't have to try so hard to be a Good Samaritan. I got this. We'll wait for that vampire to attack and then you can swoop in and save the girls. With this plan they will stay safe and you can do your hero thing when we catch the attacker. See? Everybody wins."

Suddenly the brothers hear something rustling in the distance. They tune into their heightened vampire hearing and listen closely.

"No!!" A girls voice shouts in the distance.

Stefan tenses up and then starts running in the direction of the yelling.

"Well, that was easy!" Damon says, running after Stefan.

Stefan dashes off the side of the road and into the forest. He's using his vampire speed to run impossibly fast through the trees and wilderness. Finally, the screams of the girl become loud enough and he locates the person in trouble.

A college aged blonde girl is pressed up against a tree screaming while a vampire feeds on her. The same vampire from earlier, Stefan recognizes. He quickly speed runs and snaps the vampires neck and catches the girl before she falls.

Stefan holds her carefully. "Hey.. hey, you're gonna be okay." He says to her. "Do you know what just happened?"

He expects her to be at loss for words, or maybe say vampire and seem terrified. But she says something he doesn't quite understand. "Yes, it was A." She says, and then her eyes roll back and she faints.

While he holds her, he and Damon exchange confused looks.

"Well don't look at me." Damon says. "She didn't get to finish her sentence. We'll ask what she meant when she wakes up."

The girls have been driving along the road, still on edge and afraid from the attack earlier. They switched out the driving, and now Emily is on the wheel.

"Something's not right." Aria says. She feels uneasy as if she can sense something bad is happening. She starts shaking her head.

"What are you talking about?" Emily asks.

Before Aria can answer, her phone rings. "Hold on I need to take this." She says to Emily. She glances at the caller I.D. before answering. "Stefan."
