"Hey, Aaron, are you there?" someone shouted in the office building. Her voice echoed in the halls, getting softer as it reached the opposite end of the building. The sun was shining through the windows, and cast a shadow onto the wall beside her. There was no reply. "Aaron, I have some news to share... It's important, about the case." still no reply. The sound of her heels clicking against the floor grew rambunctious as she made her way to Aaron's desk. She saw him, sitting in his chair, typing away on his computer, with a copious of documents scattered around the desk. She knocked gingerly on the wall behind him.
"I wanted to talk about the case." she said.
Aaron was silent for a moment. "I-I'm a bit.. busy.. right now. I can't..."he stopped talking mid-sentence.
"Oh, well I guess I can give the news about the Corporation of Decisive Judgment later, yeah". She suspired and turned around. Aaron heard the sound of her heels clicking against the floor. He turned his swivel chair to face her.
He eventually exclaimed, "Wait! What about the CDJ?" She turned toward him, and placed one hand on her hip while holding papers in the other. She fanned herself with them as she spoke.
"Oh, don't worry about it. You're busy anyway, I shouldn't have bothered you."
"No really, what about it?"
She sighed, making it seem like she was aggravated, but obviously wasn't, "Well, I've been in contact with them."
He looked at her puzzled. "What did you say, Abby?"
"Look, Aaron. I know you've been endeavoring with the case a little bit, and that this is the most important case you, or either of us, have ever been given. But I thought it would be a good idea to, you know..." she looked in his eyes, which glistened in the light the sun was shining over the horizon. "I think this could be good for us."
Aaron scratched his head, not to be misleading of confusion. "Well, what did you say to them."
"They told me to send an email to the President of the CDJ.. but I didn't do it yet, just in case you didn't want their help".
Aaron took a deep breath and made a pirouette with his chair to face his computer again. He started typing frantically and mumbled words very quietly to himself that Abby couldn't understand. She stared at the back of his head, confused, and thought for a few moments, 'What the... what is he doing? Okay...' She panned over to his computer, putting her free hand on his shoulder.
"And, send."
"What did you do? You kind of left me there for a second" she said with her eyes fixed on his computer. He transposed his chair back and looked at Abby briefly, then back to his computer.
"I, just sent an email."
"To whom did you send the email and what for?" She said in an excited manner for she had an idea about whom it was.
"To the President of the Corporation of Decisive Judgment asking them to join us on solving the case with regards over Hensworth's murder."
"Oh, that's great, Aaron, I didn't know you were going to do that for me! This could help out a lot."
A short moment of silence.
"I doubt they'll reply now, so..." Aaron stretched in between her words, "should we just, get out of here?"
"You know, I fancy a good sleep tonight. I'm exhausted." He yawned.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good plan."
They both stepped away from his desk, but something caught Aaron's eye, "Oh, and by the way, the boss gave us some radios."
"What for?"
"Just for communication purposes, other than our phones."
"Alright." she grabbed her radio, and stepped back out of his cubicle. She and Aaron walked to the elevator, and went down eight floors to the lobby. The elevator door opened with a ding and they steped out.
Aaron peered out through the lobby doors and saw rain falling from the darkened skies above, and opened his mouth to speak, "So... this is happening? It was just sunny out.."
"Yeah?" Abby chuckled quickly.
"You need a ride?"
She noticed the rain, "Oh.. I don't wanna walk home in this, I don't have an umbrella. So-" she stopped after realizing she was rambling. "...Yes."
Aaron smiled and took off his dark jacket, handing it to Abby, and wrapping it over her head. They ran out of the building and to his car, which was surround by dozens of his co-workers' vehicles.
When they got inside, Aaron whispered loudly, "Considering it's Saturday, there are a lot of people who came in to work today."
"Yeah, but I guess we can't judge them, we were here, too."
Aaron smirks, "I guess you're right."
