Abby knocked on the door, then opened it again. "Jerry, I forgot-" Abby looked at the emptiness of the room, and was awestruck. "He- he was just here. I don't get it."

"Where'd he go?"

"I don't know."

"Should we talk to the receptionist?"

"Yes. Let's go there now."

Aaron let Abby exit the room first, and in a panic, she shoved him into the wall, "Oh, sorry." she apologized quickly. They ran down the stairs, and met with a different receptionist. "Hey, excuse me?" Abby asked the receptionist, "Where is Jerry Foster? We were just visiting him in his room a minute ago, but he's gone now." Abby was twisting her fingers between her hands, and looked back at Aaron.

"Jerry Foster? He checked out of here early this morning."

"What- how is that possible?" Aaron asked shocked.

"It says here that he was checked out at 10:28 this morning."

"We were just with him. He was just in his room."

"I'm sorry, but I don't know what to tell you. It's the truth. He checked out!"

"I know. I'm sorry."

"No, you're fine. Tell you what, I'll contact Doctor Roberts, his medical supervisor, and tell her the situation. But she's on her break, and won't be back until 2:30."

"Not a problem." Abby replied. "Thanks."

"I'm happy to help."

Abby took a step away from the receptionist desk, and Aaron followed her to his car. The moment they stepped outside, they could feel the gentle breeze of a warm spring morning. Aaron looked into the sky, and saw clouds blocking the sun, creating massive areas of shade.

They sat inside of his car, and chatted,

"Don't you think, Abby, that it's a bit weird that she said, 'it's the truth'?"

"You know, I didn't even think about that. She did say that, didn't she. That's odd."

"Yeah- it is."
