The next day at the choosing ceromony, Henery had school and dad had work so neither of them could come to the ceremony but dad would probably hear about it from one of his friends.
My dad dropped me off at the Abnegation Compound since that's where the ceromony was held this year.
"Bye Peter, see you soon." Dad said and Henery began waving to me from the window.
I couldn't look at them. I feel too ashamed.
I then entered the compound taking a seat next to Molly and Drew, there parents were seated next to each other.
"Have you decided?" Asked Drew.
"No, have you?" I asked.
Drew shrugged then Marcus Eaton, a councilman for Abnegation began to speak and began calling the first names. Most people stuck with there current factions, but then a boy transferred to Amity, a girl to Erudite, and Christina a Candor girl who I coulsnt stand chose Dauntless. Her and her man hands would do just fine, I thought to myself.
Finally my name was called and I stepped up, I took the knife and curled my hand in a fist to let the blood pool on my hand. I then walked over to the Dauntless bowl and dripped my blood into the bowl. There were cheers from the Dauntless as I walked towards them they were patting me on the back telling me I made the right choice. Then Molly was next she chose Dauntless and Drew also chose Dauntless.
Nobody joined Dauntless after that until a small, skinny girl from Abnegation who looked more 12 then 16 was called. The final name, at first she went towards the Abnegation bowl but then turned around and chose Dauntless, she realized she has no chance of survival.
The Dauntless cheered and soon Marcus congratulated everyone and everyone joined in on the cheers and stormed out, there wad chatter and laughter all over.
All the Dauntless jumped onto the moving train, everyone helping the next person on, I helped Molly who helped Drew who yanked Christina in so hard she stumbled onto the floor.
We all laughed as Christina glared at us and pulled the Stiff onto the train.
When we finally arrived to the Dauntless compound everyone was forced to jump off the train.
It wasn't to bad, I landed on my feet. Pain sprung up my face but I smirked proudly.
I kind of spaced out to what happened next but I realized that the Stiff was standing on the ledge of the roof. Then I caught on, we were jumping off the roof.
"Watch your step Stiff!" I called.
She then turned around and through her jacket at my face then jumped off the roof. I didn't even hear a scream or a splat.
Then the crowd of Dauntless cheered.
"Who's next?" Asked a man, probably a Dauntless leader.
"I'll go!" I called.
I then pushed passed the other initates and jumped off the roof without a second thought, I wanted to yell, but at the same time it wasn't that bad, I then fell onto something which I soon realized was a net.
Then a man and a woman helped me out of the net.
"Welcome to Dauntless," said the man grinning.
One by one the other initiates jumped off the room and we all gathered around the man and woman.
"My names Four," said the man.
"Four? Like the number?" Smirked Christina who was standing next to the Stiff.
"And I'm Lauren, all the Dauntless born come with me. You most likely don't need a tour," Said the woman. Most of the crowd followed her.
"The rest of you come with me to the Pit," said Four.
"The Pit? Interesting name." Chuckles Christina.
Four then inched closer to her, "If u wanted to be around Smart Mouthed Candors I would've joined there faction." He snapped.
Christina gulped and stopped speaking.
I chuckled. Four then led us around and stoppe at a Chasm.
"This Chasm proves a fine line between bravery and idiocy. Every year we have an idiot jump off to make a statement. Don't let that idiot be you," Four said sternly and led us to a dormitory.
"The final stop, the dormitory. See you all tommarow for your first day of training." Four then left the dormitory.
Once everyone was in there bunk I climbed into the bunk above Drew's and across from Molly's.I stared at the ceiling and began thinking of Henery, how does he feel right now? Losing mom then losing me.
How about my dad? I should've told him.
Don't cry. I told myself, I then heard sobs coming from another bunk, Albert.
I remember him, he was very quiet I never spoke to him. I remember how suprised everyone was when he chose Dauntless. He was such a wimp I expected Amity or Abnegation but Dauntless?
I then felt a tear roll down my face. Why am I crying? I thought to myself.
Soon silently cried myself to sleep.
The next day to get my mind off of my pathetic crying last night I found some orange spray paint and spray painted the Stiff's bed with the word "Stiff" all over it while she was in the shower.
Once she got out she stopped and stared at her bed then turned to me and Drew while we laughed.
She rolled her eyes, "The maturity level." She said.
Then Will, a Erudite helped her remove the sheets whispering to her something that made her laugh.
I glared at her, I will take her down.
After breakfast we went to a training room where one of the men who stood on the roof was there along with Four. I believe his name was Eric.
"Today, is just practice. You will test your accuracy by throwing knives at targets, tommarow you will spar each other."
There were mumbles as we each walke towards a target with knives on the floor.
I saw the Stiff examining a knife and called, "Hey Stiff, remember what a knife is?"
I then picked up a knife and missed my target and it ended up bouncing off the walls.
"Hey Peter, remember what a knife is?" She asked.
There was then laughter and I glared at her.
After an hour of knife throwing the only one who hasn't hit their target was Albert. He soon got into an argument with Eric and Eric forced him to stand in front of a target.
I watched as Eric reached for a knife to throw at Albert but then the Stiff called.
"Stop! Your not proving anything besides bullying him. Anyone can stand in front of a target without flinching!" She called.
Christina mumbled something to her but Eric smirked.
"If you think its that easy you do it," Eric replied. "You flinch, he must take your place."
She shrugged and walked towards the target, it was obvious she was nervous because her hands were shaking.
I wanted to see this, there was no way she couldn't flinch.
"Four, you do the honors." Said Eric.
Four yawned, "Is this really necessary?" He asked.
"Yea it is," Eric snapped.
Four then picked up the knife, "You ready, Stiff?" He asked.
"Yes," she replies her voice shaking.
"Eyes open then," Four replied.
