Later that night, while the rest of the Shinkengers were asleep in their rooms, Takeru and Riyu sat out in the courtyard of the Shiba Mansion. Takeru had agreed to hear Riyu's explanations but he gave her one chance.
"This better be good."
"It is. I just- Last night....when I saw you with that Kamen Rider. I was.....heartbroken, angry and completely out of my mind. You were.....enjoying what he was doing to you. I figured you were already taken so..... I mean- I know I was intoxicated and said some stuff that was totally uncalled for but....when I said I was in love with you, I really meant it but there's no way you could feel the same way about me because well I'm a big mess and that's the last thing you need right now.....but this mess loves you endlessly." Riyu sniffed as she wipped her tears away.
Takeru put his hand to Riyu's trembling one.
"You're not a mess Riyu Hattori. You acted on emotion and alcohol. Forget what I said earlier to you, I was angry at your behavior."
Riyu shook her head as Takeru turned Riyu's head to his, looking into her eyes. "I truly do feel the same way about you. You're beautiful, brave and kind-hearted. I love you dearly."
Riyu pressed her lips to Takeru's softly and the two pulled away from each other, looking at the full moon. Even though the kiss only lasted for a second, it meant something to the two Shinkengers.
"Promise me one thing, don't ever act recklessly the way that you did earlier. Come talk to me from now on okay?" Riyu shook her head in agreement as she rested her head on Takeru's shoulder.
