Radiate [ON HOLD]

As he leaves the cafeteria I scramble away from the window to act as if I'd just been standing there waiting for him.

"Oh, you didn't have to wait for me." He says monotonously.

"well, i didn't want you to get lost." I lie.

"Ok, well we can walk back together. i can help you pick your berries if you want." He suggests.

"Sure, that'd be a big help." I smile.

"By the way I'm Haden." He says extending his hand.

"I'm Dove." I say shaking his hand.

We walk back to the berry fields, now in a comfortable silence. His eyes focused on the road in front of us.

I notice that I'm about 6 inches shorter than him and his legs almost go up to my shoulders. His hair is a dark auburn which accents his bright green eyes.

"What happened to your arms?" He asks not even glancing at my arms.

"Oh, nothing. Just some scratches." I say nervously covering my arms with my hands.

"They don't look like anything." He says pointing to the dark black scabs- wait black?

"I'm sure, ill just have them checked out at the clinic." I shrug.

"Ok." He says turning back to the road in front of us.

Then we go back to the awkward silence. As we enter the berry patches he follows me to my patch where he starts to help me pick berries.

As i walk home from the Child Center i make sure that I'm not alone this time, Haden has accompanied me.

The leader of our city had arranged for Haden to stay with a boy i know, Thomas, and i think they will get along well enough. The leader also permanently arranged his job to berry picking.

As we get close to my building i start to feel a little sad that i won't see Haden anymore today. I know for a fact that i find him attractive.

"Well, this is my stop." I say as i stand in front of the building door.

"Oh, ok." He says and i think i can find a hint of sadness.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" I ask.

"Yea, right at my patch." He says itching the small of his back.

"Bye." I say closing the door and giving him a weak smile.

After i hear his footsteps leave, I jump the stairs 2 at a time. Once I'm a couple of flights up i scream at the top of my lungs overjoyed.

Once i reach my level i swing the door open. My face must look as if I'd won a medal.

"Woah, what's up with Mr.Happy?" Georgie asks.

"Oh nothing it's just I've been hanging out with this kid, Haden, you know the new kid." I gush.

"WHAT!" Georgie screams.

"I know!" I scream back.

"what's he like?" She asked.

"I don't know yet, we only met today."I gush again. "But he seems really nice."

I know this one is short but i just want to the next chapter to be a little time skip so they can trust each other more so he can spill some stuff. As usual please vote, comment, and enjoy!
