"Mhmm, I could eat funnel cakes all day, everyday!" Niall moaned in between bites.
"It's orgasmic, I know." TJ agreed.
Niall choked a bit. "What didya say?!"
"It's good." She said slowly, giving him a weird look.
He shook his head. "No! I mean what did you really say?"
"Ohh, do you mean orgasmic?" She said, laughing. "It's just a thing I say."
"Oh," Niall laughed nervously. "You just caught me off guard."
The two finished the funnel cake and stood up from the picnic table.
"Do ya wanna walk or around or something?" Niall asked TJ. "We can just walk around the park, or sit here and talk. Or we can go back, if you want." He added.
"Let's walk." TJ smiled at him. They fell into step beside each other, walking in comfortable silence for a while.
"So, uh, that Jayden bloke, what was his deal?" Niall asked, thrusting his hands in his pockets.
TJ bit back a smile. "You mean Jordan?" She sighed. "It's a long story..."
"Oh." Niall said, crestfallen.
"No, that's not what I meant Niall, it's just that it wasn't the best time of my life and reliving that..." TJ trailed off.
"No, I get it." Niall attempted to smile. "S'alright, really."
"You didn't let me finish. I hate reliving that part of my life, but I want to tell you." TJ finished, smiling up at him.
Niall's face broke into a relieved smile. "That's good. I mean, yeah, okay, whatever you want." TJ laughed lightly before diving into her story.
"When we first started talking, like a year ago, he was so sweet and cute and adorable. But I dunno, he became like bipolar and stuff. It was weird." TJ began.
"What do you mean? What did he do?" Niall asked. "He didn't seem all that cute and adorable to me." He mumbled under his breath.
"Well, he would text me all the time and be sweet, but at school, he would ignore me or I would see him with other girls and he would look right through me." TJ said quietly, staring down at the ground.
"He's a wanker and he didn't deserve you." Niall said, blue eyes darkening with anger. His voice softened and he added, "You're beautiful, you know that? Any guy would be lucky-no, honored to be with you." He immediately blushed after saying that and stuffed his hands into his pockets.
"Niall, that's so sweet." TJ smiled at him. "And thank you." She added softly, placing a hand on his forearm.
"Yeah, no problem." Niall mumbled, his blush deepening. "So, eh, what did you do?"
"Well, I ignored him right back. But every night, he would text me as of nothing was wrong. And I couldn't resist. I would give in and pretend with him. I guess I liked the attention he was giving me?" TJ questioned. "I dunno, I suppose I just liked the way he made me feel." She finished, slightly embarrassed.
Niall stayed quiet for a moment before asking, "How did he make you feel?"
"This is gonna sound cheesy, but he made me feel like I was someone special. More than just another nameless face in the crowd, more than a someone hiding behind a loud personality. Just more." TJ smiled wistfully at the memory. "You boys don't realize how much you effect us girls. We shouldn't give you that much power, but we do. And it sucks." TJ added.
"You shouldn't have to rely on some bloke to make you feel like that, especially not that piece of shit. And you girls effect us too, ya know." Niall retorted.
"I know, I know, but there's a huge difference between someone else telling me nice things and when I say them to myself. But anyways, that kinda thing went on and on for about three months and then out of no where, he stopped talking to me. No more texts, no more cute nicknames, nothing." TJ explained, her smile fading.
"Good riddance." Niall muttered.
"Well I sure didn't think so." TJ said softly. "I missed to attention."
"Why did he stop? More importantly, how could he stop? I mean, you were already too good for him, the least he could do was try harder." Niall snorted, disgust evident in his voice.
"Well, not every guy thinks like you, Niall." TJ smiled. "But I really don't know. I guess he found someone better?" She shook her head in sadness.
"Someone like you can't ever be replaced." Niall said quietly, too quiet for TJ to hear.
"But fast forward a couple of months. We start talking again, but this time I'm doing it just to be friends again. But then, out of no where, he asks me to prom. OVER TEXT."
Niall laughed. "What kinda dumbass asks a girl to prom over text?"
"Exactly! Obviously I said no. Well at first, I thought it was a joke, but then he asked me again. And again. But what's even worse was that he like got mad and said a bunch of hurtful shit after I turned him down. Looking back, it's kinda funny now." TJ laughed bitterly.
"Pussy.." Niall snorted.
"He is." TJ agreed with a chuckle. "But I ended up going to prom with Nick and when Jordan saw us together he lost it. I mean he went ham."
"Nick?" Niall questioned.
"A guy I used to work with. We had feelings for each other at one point, which is why he asked me to go with him."
Niall looked crestfallen. "Oh." He said simply. His head dropped, focussing on the kicking at the grass in his high top nikes.
TJ noticed his reaction and gave a little laugh. "It's over and done with now. Nick and I are only friends." Niall mumbled something indiscernible.
"And besides," TJ added, gently placing a finger under Niall's chin and raising it, his clear blue eyes meeting her dark brown ones. "I think I found someone better." She smiled and stepped back. "Come on,"she beckoned him to follow her. "Let's go back to Jessica and Harry."
"But what about your story?" Niall asked, still baffled by TJ's previous statement.
"Long story short, Jordan tried to fight Nick, but I stepped in between the two, but Jordan still managed to throw a punch at Nick, hitting him in the face. Before Nick could hit back, I dragged him away and helped him ice his face. Needless to say, Jordan ruined what was supposed to be an amazing night." TJ finished in one breath.
"Well what did Nick do?" Niall questioned.
"We went back to my place and just watched movies all night. It was nice." TJ finished, smiling at the memory.
"That's all? Just movies?" Niall inquired.
TJ rolled her eyes and laughed. "Yes Niall, we just watched movies. There may or may not have been some cuddling..." TJ added, wriggling her eyebrows suggestively.
Niall groaned, his hands covering his face. "Please, I don't wanna know."
"I'm joking, I'm joking! Calm down, it wasn't just us alone, there were like five other people." TJ laughed.
"Oh thank God." Niall breathed a sigh of relief.
TJ shook her head and grinned up at him. "Now can we go back to Harry and Jessica?"
Niall nodded and grabbed TJ's hand and the two started back towards Jessica and Harry.
