Chapter 24: Promises Mean Nothing (Skye's POV)

I stopped paying attention to Pheonix while taking care of Aja. My life was about to be over, four months along and I felt like if never be able to raise this child. I had no choice, though.

"Do you think things would be better if I give the baby up?" I asked absently.

"No, I don't. Plus, I don't think you really want this kid growing up without you."

I shrugged a little, I didn't know what I wanted. No, I did but it wasn't possible. I wanted things to go back to how they were and for Dameon to leave.

The baby started to cry again and I grabbed another bottle. "Hey, can you handle her alone for a bit?"

"Of course. Where are you going?" I questioned.

"Just out." he said quickly and ran out. Lucky for me, there was only an hour left before Uncle Josh and Aunt Ryan would be home. Plus side was, they were always home on the dot because Ryan hated to be away from Aja.

I was walking home when I absently went to the soccer field. I had been doing this every night I walked home and expected to be the only one here. "Wrong, whore."

I had to hold in a scream. Oh god, that was Dameon and an older version on him leaning over Pheonix. "What the hell?" I charged without warning. "Hell no, you fucking promised!"

"Who are you, little girl?"

"Skye..your son's victim."

The man laughed evilly. "Nice choice, though you shouldn't stray."

"Sorry, Da, it was needed." Dameon said.

"Skye, get out of here!" Pheonix yelled.

"No, I'm not leaving you!"

"Yes, you will. Get out of here now!"

"Yeah, love, get going. We wouldn't want that bastard child to hear what's gonna happen to its daddy." Dameon said slyly.

I froze with fear. This isn't supposed to be happening. I did everything I was told to do so he wouldn't be hurt. "Tell you what, follow these last few instructions and we will leave him alone." Dameon's dad said evilly.

"Anything." I whispered.
