Harley's P.O.V.I ran downstairs after I heard the gunshot. "Mistah J? What happened?" I asked as I made my way down, as I I didn't know already.
"HARLEY!! SHUT UP!" He yelled violently. I stepped backwards, stopping myself on the last step, where he couldn't see me.
"Oh, um. O-ok. Just, tell me when I can come down." I said quietly, my voice barely above a whisper.
I thought we were past this version of him. I thought we'd been together long enough that'd he'd changed.
Maybe he's just trying to keep me safe.
Don't count on it, sweetheart.
This guy couldn't care less about you.
STOP!! That's NOT TRUE!
Why are you getting so defensive?
Maybe it's because you know we're right....
"JUST. STOP!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, burying my face in my hands as I crumpled onto the staircase.
I tangled my hands into my hair, clenching my fists. I started sobbing.
"WHY?! THIS ISN'T WORTH IT!!" I screamed through my sobs. I heard footsteps, and I quickly attempted to stop crying and wipe away the tears that were streaming down my face. But I couldn't stop them.
"HARLEY! I TOLD YOU TO SHUT U-" He stopped yelling.
Do I dare look up...?
I pulled my hands slowly away from my face, and looked up. Standing above me, was a very, very, pissed-off Mistah J.
"What the hell are you doing?" He said with a growl through gritted teeth. "N-nothing... I'm not doing anything..." I trailed off, trying again to wipe away my tears.
He grabbed my hand mid-way to my face. He forcefully yanked my up by my wrist, pain shooting up my arm. "Ow, Puddi-"
"SHUT UP! Why can't you follow, a simple. Order? Is it that hard?" I looked up at him, briskly shaking my head 'no'.
"So why can't you do it? It's a simple question. Can you not speak, either?" He asked, the clip in his voice growing more violent and intense.
"No, Mistah J please! I-"
I didn't get to finish. Before I could think, he dropped my hand, and backhanded me with his own.
I staggered backward, unprepared for the blow. "WELL, HARLEY?! WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO?!" He yelled.
I stared in shock.
"I THOUGHT YOU CHANGED!" I retorted. He stared at me angrily. I kept going, anger flooding out of me. "I THOUGH YOU LOVED ME! LIKE I LOVE YOU!"
He stared at me again, but not for long.
He responded by hitting me again, this time punching me in the stomach. I doubled over in pain, my stomach clenching as my vision blurred.
He leaned down close to me and whispered in my ear as I dropped my knees to the ground, bending over in agony.
"Maybe. I. Don't."
