My bag was packed, and I was ready to go. I had snuck out so many times in my life that this was easy for me. My mother went to sleep around ten o' clock. After she went to her room, I would wait exactly one hour and then sneak out my bedroom window to finally be free.
Sure enough at 9:56 PM, mom went to her bedroom. I waited patiently in my bedroom untill 11. I slowly opened my window wide enough so that I could slip out. Once I was free from my mother's house, I bolted. I didn't have a plan.
When I had been running for about a half an hour, I started to realize some things. Where do I go? ?How do I get food? Where do I sleep? The night air suddenly felt really cold on my skin.
I reached the edge of town and began to slow down my pace. Then, I realized how out of breath I was.
I didn't stop. I had been planning this for too long to stop. The next town was in about five miles and I decided to find a place to sleep there.
In about two hours, I made it to the town. The same questions went through my mind for the second time that night. My main thought was "Where do I sleep? And how do I eat?" This town was a lot bigger than my hometown and many people were walking on the streets. This seemed odd to me because it was about 2 in the morning.
Most of the people looked rough. A lot of them stared at me, and I'm not sure why. I needed to find a safe place, and soon. I began to look around. Many businesses lined the streets. A Walmart was a few blocks away and I could see the big sign. I decided to go in. There were bean bags in a big bin, so I grabbed one and sat down. It felt so comfortable and I quickly fell asleep.
