Rose had finally reached Jubilife City once again. Knowing she'd have to take a break sooner than later if she didn't want to collapse on the ground from exhaustion or pain so she found a place to rest. She wouldn't be allowed out on her own ever again if that happened.

Rose sat on a bench. The area was shaded from the sun by a large building. It was located in a small park with a simple fountain in the middle. No one was there except Rose.

"I wish I wasn't always held back." Rose frowned, sighing. "I suppose this journey will take a while."

Chikorita, who sat on her lap, tilted his head up and backward to look at Rose's face. "Chi?"

Rose smiled slightly and pet her new Pokemon. "It's nothing. It's just I will be taking the scenic route to this adventure."

Chikorita purred lightly. He seemed to be fine with it.

Rose and Chikorita stayed that way for a while that is until Rose spotted a Pokemon by itself.

"Is she lost?" Rose wondered out loud.

Standing up, Rose approached the strange Pokemon she had never seen before. It definitely wasn't from Sinnoh. What was it?

"Hello there girl," Rose said approaching the feline looking Pokemon slowly. "Are you lost?"

She didn't even turn her head to look at Rose. Instead, she began to walk off. Was that- was that an amused purr Rose had heard? She couldn't tell over the roaring bustle of the city.

"Wait up!" Rose called out and increased her pace.

It seemed no matter how fast Rose went, the same distance was kept between her and the strange cat Pokemon. Was she leading Rose somewhere?

Rose was holding Chikorita in her arms. He didn't make a sound or stir much at all. He was fixated intently on the cat much like Rose was. It made Rose wonder what he was thinking.

Rose turned around a corner of one street to only bump into a boy around the same age as her. Rose fell to the ground. She silently cursed at her weakened muscles. Rose really shouldn't have been running.

The boy's hand appeared in front of her face. Rose stared at it. What? Wait, was he offering help? Rose looked up to his face.

Raven black hair and dark blue eyes. He looked back at her, his eyes almost looked pained. "Are you going to take my hand?"

"Right. Sorry." Rose mumbled, taking his hand. He helped Rose to her feet.

"Are you alright?" He looked away and shoved his hands in his pockets.

"Yes I am but-"

"Glad. Now have you seen my Liepard? She ran off."

Rose's eyes widened. That's what she saw in his eyes. Sadness.

"What's a Liepard?"

The boy's shoulders sank further down than before. He must have been asking all day. Running a hand through his messy hair he pulled out a phone and showed Rose his lock screen. He was smiling. The boy almost looked like an entirely different person and with him was the exact Pokemon she'd been chasing.

"What?" Rose gasped. "I just chased her around the corner. She just disappeared on me."

His head snapped up and he studied Rose. He probably didn't believe her.

"I swear-"

"Parrrd." A purr came from behind the boy and his Pokemon appeared from the shadows.

He stood there shocked as she rubbed her entire body length against the side of his leg. She turned to face him, sitting down and laying her tail neatly over her paws.

"Abby where have you been all day!" He gritted his teeth.

The Liepard just flicked her ear at him, smoothing down a patch of fur on her shoulder.

Shaking his head, he crossed his arms. "Why did you bring this girl here?"

Abby turned her head to stare at him in the eyes. It was clear to Rose he understood but the boy rolled his eyes at her.

"I already told you, Abby. I don't need any friends. I am perfect the way I am now. We don't need anyone else."

The feline huffed loudly, standing up. Abby then proceeded to walk around Rose, only to face him again on the other side. Her stare was hard. It was almost as if she was staring into his soul. Were they having a staring contest?

She rubbed her head on Rose's hand, making Rose smile. Rose held Chikoria in her arm still while scratching Abby's head with her other hand.

The boy seemed to be flabbergasted. "Abby this is unlike you."

She hardly flicked her ear as she purred at Rose's affection.

He shook his head in annoyance, rolling his eyes. "Fine. Abby, I'll do what you want. You win. Hello, miss, my name is Cameron and this is Abby."

Rose smiled at Abby. She seemed to really care about Cameron.

"I'm Rose and this is my newest partner Chikorita. It's nice to meet you."

"Chii." Chicorita chirped in greeting.

Cameron's Liepard purred back at Chikorita. They exchanged a few more words of their own before gazing up at their companions again.

"So what now?" Rose asked.

"I don't know. I don't have enough experience with friends to know." Cameron sighed.

Abby rolled her eyes as if to say he was hopeless and picked up a scrap of paper on the ground.

"Vannilish Cones?" Cameron raised an eyebrow.

Rose smiled. "What about berry smoothies. That way our Pokemon can have some too."

A slight smile appeared on Cameron's face. "Sounds nice. Lead the way, Rose."

Abby watched them go ahead, a faint glimmer in her eye.

One word crossed her mind. Finally.

 Finally
