The rest of the week was pretty uneventful, Matt and I worked together in class, but we didn't see any need to meet again after school. However, today is Friday. How wonderful. You know most people would be excited about Friday, but not me. Today I have to dress up and go to a party with Matt. Its fine, it's for the journal; but, I still don't like it. I mean I've never been to an actual high school party. I've been to after parties, and things of that sort, but never an actual high school party. They just seem like such a big thing; I prefer smaller gatherings with my friends. As I'm leaving choir, about to go to lunch, Audrey, Katie, Kayla, Krysta and Carter catch up with me. "Hey girl," Krysta moves her pixie cut black hair behind her ears, "you're eating with us."
"Um, okay." I smile.
"Great! Oh, by the way it's easier if you just bring your lunch to choir that way you don't have to go back to your locker and get it." Krysta adds.
"Will do, where did you guys eat the last couple of days if you weren't with Carter?"
"Oh, sometimes we eat in the choir room."
"Oh okay."
"Okay, come on girly."
We sit down at the table that Carter and I normally sit at; no wonder it was so empty.
"Alright, spill," Kayla starts, "where are you from?"
"Seattle, Washington." I state.
"I love Seattle," Katie says, "it's so pretty over there.""Yeah." The other girls agree.
I see Carter, Kayla and Krysta, who are sitting across from me, freeze up. I follow their gaze and my eyes land on Matt who, a few tables over, is staring at me. Before I have time to process the situation, he stands up and starts walking my way. I sigh, oh no. I turn back around to my, still, frozen friends. Suddenly, someone's hand is on my shoulder, the other one resting on the table.
"Pick you up at eight?" I hear Matt say just loud enough for the other girls to hear. I look down, "okay," I turn my head towards him, "eight it is." Matt lets go of my shoulder and pushes off the table. The girls all stare at me dumbfounded.
"What?" I ask incredulously. "That was Matt Woods, the quarterback of the football and he just told he was picking you up at eight. Explain." Audrey leans forward, her long dark hair following suit.
"Oh, I'm going with him to some party tonight." I respond.
"Austin's party?" Katie asks.
"I don't know probably."
Audrey looks at Carter, "Did you know about this?"
"Who do you think is helping her get ready?" Carter countered.
"You lucky bitch," Kayla says, running a hand through her reddish brown hair, "Matt is so hot."
"Well if you don't like that, you're really not going to like it when I tell you that he's kind of my neighbor. And I'm not so excited."
"No fair!" Kayla whines.
"Wait, why not?" Krysta asks, "Its Matt Woods!"
"I'm not choosing to go, I have to. I'm indebted to him." The girls share confused looks.
"Explain." Katie demands.
"Well let's just say that I accidentally left my window open the Sunday before school started and since we have windows that face each other, he decided to jump into my room on a dare and steal my journal; so, in order to get it back I have to do a couple of things for him." Wow that's a mouthful.
