Once Myles was out, it made him and Cam closer than ever. They held hands walking down the street. They kissed at work. They went to family events together. One day, Cam received a call from his mom asking to come over to New York. "Please sweetheart I miss you! I haven't seen you since New Years." Cams mother was a single woman living in New York by herself. Cam never knew his father and frankly didn't care to ever meet him if he was given the chance. Marie Stone lived in a private loft right on Times Square. She loved it. She could go see a Broadway show whenever she felt like it. She could write in silence. She retired early from being a children's author, but of course always wrote in her spare time. She would never truly retire. Marie was a thin woman with a pixie hair cut and bright blue eyes. Myles was all for going to New York, he had never left the state before. Once they had started to pack, Myles couldn't wait for their trip to start. It would be their first vacation together as a couple. Myles finished loading the car while Cam called the airport to make sure their tickets were all lined up. Myles and Cam drove to see Myles' parents before they left, they would be gone for an entire month. Of course this did mean that they both wouldn't be attending their jobs for thirty consecutive days, but Cams boss was a reasonable man, and Myles was his own boss.
When the boys both got on the plane, Myles started to become extremely nervous. He had never been on a plane before. Cam on the other hand had been on a plane several times, and did everything he could to calm his boyfriend down. "What if we crash?! Oh my God, why did I agree to this?" Myles was frantic at this point. Cam smiled at his boyfriend being so scared of a little plane trip to New York City. "You need to calm down, ok?" Cam said giving a small giggle. Myles just sat there staring down his boyfriend, gripping his armrests till his knuckles turned white. "Ok but what if-" Cam learned that the only real way to shut his boyfriend up was to cut him off from talking by kissing him. "You know that's not always gonna work" Myles said. He loosened his grip on the armrests and steadied his breathing. When the plane started to take off, Myles grabbed Cams arm and didn't let go until the turbulence had stopped. Once the plane landed Myles and Cam were completely jet-lagged. They immediately hailed a cab and drove into the city.
Cam missed the city. He forgot how big and amazing it was. the random shops on the streets, the subway, he even missed the crazy NYC traffic. When the boys reached Times Square Myles was looking at everything, from the street signs to hotdog carts. Myles never wanted to leave. He loved how different it was from Seattle. Cam loved seeing his boyfriend happy because it made him happy. Cam and Myles reached his mothers building by noon and the streets were a buzz with people and yellow taxi cabs zooming by every few seconds. Cam knocked on the door loudly, that was the only way he knew how to, growing up in New York. Marie answered quickly. She was so excited to see her son after so long, and was even more surprised to see Myles with him. "Oh my goodness I've missed you so much" she said pulling Cam into a tight long hug. "And who is this handsome fellow?" she asked. "Mom, this is Myles. My boyfriend." She pulled Myles in for a hug that he was not expecting.
