Every Friday night since their first date, would be their own night to be together, just the two of them. Some days they'd go see a movie, or go out to dinner, a lot of the time they'd just stay home playing monopoly or watching romantic comedies. After the first few weeks of being together Cam had decided to ask Myles to move in with him. Cam knew Myles didn't like living with his family, but when he was with him, Myles could be himself. He didn't have to hide his fondness for his music taste or his love for teen dramas. Everything was going smoothly until Myles' mother started to interfere. Myles had always preferred his mom over his father. She would listen to him and ask him questions about what was going on in his life. But it was different this time, Myles still didn't know if he could trust his mother with his biggest secret that he's kept to himself for so long. Finally Myles invited his mother to lunch at a café in the city, with Cam. The boys got there early, Myles' mother was always very strict on punctuality. Myles' sat in a booth while Cam ordered their usual's. They liked this diner, it was their favorite spot, the place where they went on their first coffee date. Once they both got their caffeine, Myles couldn't even hold the cup, his hands were shaking so much. He was about to come out as gay to his Christian mother, he didn't know how she would react. Would she be proud? Disappointed? He was about to find out when she walked through the door.

His mother was a beautiful woman. She was only 39, but she aged so well that she looked 29. She walked with perfect posture, as if she was in the Miss America Pageant, fighting for the crown. She came to lunch straight from work in her work scrubs with her hair pulled up and her name tag still on. She noticed her son in less than a second, she could notice her son in a crowd of strangers if it came to it. Myles got up to greet his mother, "Hi mom, how was work?" Cam could here how nervous his boyfriend was in his voice when he spoke and gave his mom a hug. "Oh it was ok, busy morning in intensive care." His mother answered. "How have you be-" she stopped mid sentence once she noticed Cam sitting in the booth. "Oh, I didn't realize you were bringing a friend. Hello, I'm Eileen." She stretched out her hand to greet herself. "Mom there's something I have to tell you, I've known this about myself for a long time now and I'd like you to keep an open mind. Ok?" Eileen looked confused but saw the frightened look in her sons eyes. She sat down quietly ready to listen to what Myles had to say. Myles had played the conversation in his head a thousand times but just couldn't bring himself to speak the words. After a minute of stuttering and awkward silence Myles finally said, "Mom, I'm gay." Eileen's facial expression was blank not upset, not happy, just blank.
"Myles," she said. "I know." Myles was taken aback with her response, he sat there his eyes wide and confused. "What? How!?" Myles asked. "Oh please Myles, I've always known. A mother always knows." Myles didn't know how to feel, I guess the biggest feeling he felt was relief. "Does Dad know?" Myles said. " I'm sure he does, he just doesn't want to admit it to himself. Either way he'll always love you Myles." He still couldn't believe what had happened, he didn't have to hide anymore from the person he really loved that he called family. "Now, are you gonna introduce me to this handsome young man or am I going to just sit here and eat lunch with a stranger.?" Eileen said with a chuckle. Myles introduce Cam to his mother as his boyfriend. He couldn't believe he was able to say that, not afraid of what people thought, it was a dream come true. Next would be his father, that was going to be the real challenge.
