"So, you just drank two cokes and a gallon of orange juice, and you still can't pee?" Nicole asked.
The two were now back at Chris's place, and yet Billie had been stalling for the past hour and a half. She wasn't sure if it was her nerves or the fact that she felt this was a huge waste of time, but she couldn't bring herself to take the test.
"What can I say? My bladder is being a stubborn little shit." She replied.
"But I thought you were confident that I was wrong?" Nicole wondered.
"That was before we stopped by the CVS and shit started getting way too real!"
Nicole felt that she was making the situation harder than it needed to be, but the truth was Billie was actually terrified. Sure, she loved Chris with all of her heart, but she wasn't ready to start a family just yet. And since her family life was still in shambles, the last thing she wanted was to bring an innocent child to her muddled existence.
"Stop being such a chicken shit! It's like ripping off a Band-Aid! Just make it quick and easy!" Nicole said.
Billie knew that she was right and that she needed move past her mental block. And besides she was over 90% sure that Nicole was just talking out of her ass. So, she decided to man up and to finally face the music. She snatched the test of out her best friend's hands and rushed into the bathroom. Unfortunately her bladder still wasn't cooperating, and she had to run warm water in the sink.
"I can't believe I'm actually doing this." she grumbled as she stuck her hand underneath the faucet.
Then she closed her eyes and started singing the chorus to "I want it that way" by The Backstreet Boys. It was the first song that popped into her head because it reminded her of the time she went on a cross country trip and she couldn't use a restroom for hours.
"Are you seriously singing?" Nicole yelled from the other room.
"Shut up or you're gonna break my concentration!" Billie yelled back and she continued.
And sure enough, her body finally gave in and she was able to do what needed to be done. Even though it was a bit messy, she followed the instructions correctly and safely placed the test on the counter once she was finished. Yet as she washed her hands, her heart immediately fell into her stomach as she detected two bright pink lines through the tiny viewing window.
"Cheese and fuckin' rice!" She whispered.
She reviewed the instructions for confirmation because she still wasn't convinced and she had heard stories about false positives. Yet after she took the bonus test for good measure, her suspicions were quickly erased.
"Oh fuck a duck! !" She yelled.
"Hey is everything okay?" Nicole asked. And as she opened the door, she noticed Billie slumped over by the sink. "Wow, what's going on?"
