Chris Evans is ready to take the next step with his longtime girlfriend, Billie Bryant. But what happens when a troubled past and dark secrets get in the way of their happy ending

It took an hour for Billie to arrive at the ICU. She was greeted by Chris's immediate family including his dad and stepmom, who had heard the tragic news. Billie saw that Lisa was trying her best to console Scott but he was completely distraught. He witnessed Chris's accident firsthand and he felt guilty for encouraging him. Scott explained that he took Chris ATV riding to get him out of the house for the surprise party. Everyone was having a great time until Chris hit some uneven terrain and his bike threw him forward. And he ended up rolling down a hill and his bike landed on top of him.
Billie fainted while imagining Chris being crushed, and she didn't even realize that a nurse had escorted her to an exam room. And when she finally came to, she saw Lisa was kneeling beside her looking pale as a ghost.
"Bee, talk to me! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Billie groaned as she sat back up, "But I'm more concerned about Chris."
"You scared the shit out of me."
Lisa hugged her tight and said that she was happy to see her. But now she was worried that this was too much for her to handle.
Billie assured her that she was fine and that she was just a little lightheaded. She grabbed some ginger ale and crackers from the cafeteria to settle her tense stomach. But as she walked back to the waiting room, she noticed that Shanna was walking aimlessly around the elevators.
"Thank god you're here!" She said and then she gave Billie a huge bear hug.
She revealed that Carly had to find a last minute babysitter for the kids, but that she and her husband should be there soon.
Billie asked if anyone had spoken to a doctor, but Shanna said that Chris was still in surgery. And she burst into tears as she told Billie that he had a partially collapsed lung, eight fractured ribs, and a broken collarbone which was pinching some of his vital blood vessels.
"The good news is that they're saying his injuries aren't life threatening but..." Shanna started sobbing, "I heard that he almost died twice on the way to the hospital. And I just got this awful feeling that he might make it through this."
Billie told her not to think that way, and that they all needed to believe that he was going to pull through. She then joked that Chris was superhero after all, as well as a stubborn little shit. And she managed to get a faint smile out of Shanna.
Everyone waited patiently as the emergency surgical team worked around the clock. But it wasn't until later that evening when they finally spoke to Chris's physician. He said that they were able to maneuver around his collarbone and repaired his damaged blood vessels. But unfortunately they also had to restore his blood supply to some of his limbs. And now he was in a medically induced coma to alleviate some of the swelling to his brain.
