Baby Problems

We were eating lunch when suddenly something felt wrong. I set down my fork and put my hands on the sides of my bump.

"Liza?" David asked looking at me when he saw my face. When I didn't answer, he tried again. "Liza babe what's wrong?"

"Something's wrong....she was wiggling a minute ago and she just stopped! I tried to tickle her and I know she's not asleep because when she sleeps, her foot moves."

"Okay, breathe. Take deep breaths."

I took one and immediately a sharp pain flashed through my body. "Ahh!" I cried gripping onto the couch.

"Liza! Hang on baby I'll call 911!" David shouted pulling his phone out.

The ambulance got there ten minutes after David called. "David!" I called as they loaded me onto the stretcher.

"Sorry Ma'am we can't have him right here."

"I don't care. He's my fiancée and my child's father he needs to be here. David!" I tried again. Finally he shoved his way past the paramedics and grabbed my hand. As he locked eyes with me, tears began to fall.

"Hey. You're going to be alright. You and our baby girl are strong. I'll be with you."

"I love you." I said as they loaded me into the ambulance.

"I love you too baby." He said voice wavering. The doors shut and suddenly I was in the ambulance with an oxygen mask on looking up at a paramedic.

"Can you tell me your name?"

"Elizabeth...Elizabeth Ko..." and the whole world went dark.

Narrator pov:

"21 year old female, complained of abdominal pains. Eight months pregnant."

"Okay. Right this way." One of the doctors said. "Looks like she's having Braxton hicks and the baby is not ready." She pushed some medicine and the Braxton hicks eventually began to slow.

"David?" I whispered hoarsely as my eyes began to open.

"Hey sweetheart.." he said rushing to my side.

"Is she okay?" I asked him placing my hand on my large bump.

"She's just fine. You were having Braxton hicks and she got scared so she froze.

"Hey baby girl. You're not ready yet! Make your entrance soon but not today!" I then looked at David who was laying on the hospital bed with me holding his good hand to mine and the other resting on my baby bump.

"Hey Ms. Koshy. Glad you're feeling better." The doctor said walking in to the room.

"Becuase the Braxton hicks were abnormal I'd like to discuss two things. One, we need to keep for for observation over night."

"Okay fine. What's the next thing?"

"If your condition worsens, or anything goes down, we will have to induce labour."

"What?! She's not ready yet!" David interjected. I grabbed his hand for support as I spoke to the doctor. "I want my baby to live. She needs to live. And you want to risk her life." By now I started to sob and held onto David for dear life.

Since I was unable to speak he said one last thing. "We understand everything is based on how tonight goes. She's at 30 weeks and we will not lose our baby. We'd like to be alone now."

The doctor nodded and shut the door behind her. "Hey baby, look at me." I looked at him with tears in my eyes.

"Our baby girl is gonna be fine. She's thirty weeks so she won't be as at risk. I'll protect you guys till the end. I promise. I love you both and you guys make up my world."

"We love you too. Don't we baby? Hey do you need footage? We might as well tell them. I'll film too."

"Are you sure?"

"Mhmm. Might as well tell them."

"Okay. He got his camera and my camera out and then set them on the food table attached to my bed.

"Hey guys, it's Liza and David. So today we are at the hospital. Again..." David started.

"Today we have some upsetting news..our baby girls health is declining. The doctors said that I have to stay overnight. If she gets any worse then they'll have to induce my labour which is the last thing I want."

"So we are just waiting and hoping that nothing will happen in between then and now. So keep us in your prayers and hopefully nothing goes wrong. We love you guys." With that we shut off the camera and tried to get some sleep.

1:00am May 8th 2017.
I woke up again with that flashing pain. I bit my lip to try and prevent myself from screaming out in pain for two reasons. One, I didn't want to wake David up again and two I didn't want reality to come. I knew there was a high chance I would have to deliver early but she wasn't due till June 12th.

I quickly pulled back the covers on my side and sat with my legs hanging over the side of the bed to try and ease the pain.

Unfortunately the movement woke David. "Baby what's wrong? It's only 1:00am."

"Nothing. Just go back to sleep."

"I can't when I see you like this. Please tell me baby so I can help."

"It hurts...and I don't want to be induced.." I couldn't speak anymore as a sharp pain went up my spine."

"Alright. Deep breaths. I know you don't want to but we have to call the nurse."

"NO! Please just wait a minute. It might go away. Just please babe give me a second." I pleaded. For a second, I thought the pain had gone away but then it came back. Ten times worse, searing through me and giving the pain you feel when you get stabbed.

"GET THE NURSE!" I screamed. David immediately slammed that button as they came rushing in.

"She's in pain help her!" He cried out.

"She's haemorrhaging, prep her for an emergency c-section right now!" The nurses and doctors spoke as they put the rails up and rushed me out into the hall.

"Wait!" I said. They stopped. "David needs to come with."

They nodded and he quickly ran to my side and ran into the operating room with us. Before I knew it, I had a blocker given to me through the I.V.

"You ready to meet your daughter?" Doctor Hedrens asked.

David kissed me and then we both responded. "Yes."

"Okay. Here we go..."
