July 28th 2018-
Today David and I were taking Aspen on vacation. We were going to Hawaii which was going to be a first for her. In fact probably the first vacation she can really experience. The last time we took her anywhere was when she was born to Chicago so this should be fun.
"Alright my love, are you ready to go to Hawaii? You can play in the pool and the beach." I asked my one year old who was crawling around the house. I picked her up and then went to go grab David. "Bub?" I asked sweetly calling up the stairs.
"Da!" Aspen shouted up the stairs. "Coming!" David replied carrying the last piece of our luggage, the baby carrier. Just in time the car service pulled up. "Hi, I'm Aaron and I'll be your driver today." He greeted as I opened the door. "Hi Aaron." I replied warmly. David came down and kissed me quickly before grabbing two suitcases. Aspen then let out a whimper to be let down. "No no baby, you can't be let down just yet." I cooed gently. With that I grabbed my sunglasses and more bags to go out to the car. Finally we were ready.
We got to the airport only about 30 minutes later because of traffic and still had a good two hours before our plane left. I put Aspen in the baby carrier and we went through security. Only a couple people recognized us thank goodness and then we were directed to the first class lounge. "How are you feeling babe?" David asked me when we got settled.
"I'm alright, I feel a bit nauseous but I think after I eat I'll be set to go. Your daughter better not give me as hard of a time as her sister." I joked. "Speaking of OUR daughter, we need to come up with names.
"Okay. Let's come up with her middle name first. Asp has a family name for the first part so let's give our second daughter it for the second part. That way they can be a little different."
"Suggestions?" I asked while reaching for my medicine. "Hmmm. Elizabeth is out. We could use Sara, Esther, Geneva or Shaila."
"You want to use one of my names again? Are you sure?"
"Babe, I want them to have a part of you always. They are gonna have my last name anyways so let's go with whatever your heart wants. Do you want Shaila?"
I nodded. "Then Shaila it is. We still need a regular name for the first part."
"How about Addelyn?" He suggested after a moment of thinking. I shook my head. Too different for my girl. "I got it. Addison." I said smiling.
"I love it. So our baby girl has a middle name. Addison-Shaila." We thought of a first name as well and came up with one but kept it to ourselves in case Aspen heard it and decided to tell our friends.
"Flight #560 to Oahu, Oahu is ready to begin boarding. First Class, Military and Families with children under two are first."
"Alright that's us." David spoke after listening to the intercom. I lifted Aspen up and carried her plane seat with us in my other hand. Bringing a plane seat meant we had to buy another seat but that was fine because she would get antsy being in my lap.
"Good morning, may I see your boarding passes?" The flight attendant named Cheryl asked. I handed her them and she looked at us smiling and let us go on. We boarded and entered first class and it was really nice. "Alright Asp who do you want to sit with? Momma or Dadda?" Surprisingly she reached for David and I handed her over. This meant I could get a little sleep. I put on my beats headphones and connected them before finally closing my eyes. When I woke up I woke up to the worst possible sound for a mother. Her child screaming. I look over and Aspen is screaming and Davids trying to calm her down all the while getting dirty looks from people around us.
"Here let me try." I said grabbing her. He nodded and I kissed him quickly. Then I settled Aspen in my lap and pulled the blanket over us. I knew feeding her would calm her down so that's what I did. "That's it, good girl. Momma is so proud of you." She fed for a little while longer before deciding she was done. So I sat her on my lap and she rested her head on me. I got up with her and walked a little around the aisle just so she could get a little movement. "That's my girl, yes your a happy little girl now." She suddenly reached down and while holding her hands I helped her walk a little. This time no dirty looks from anyone. All we saw were smiles.
A few hours later when we got there she was obviously tired so she was a little cranky. David helped me get the carrier pouch on and I put her in so she could sleep while we walked through the airport. We met the car service right outside with no problems and drove to the hotel about half an hour away.
"So is this your baby's first time here?" The driver asked while we were driving. "Yep! Her second vacation too."
We got to the hotel in the afternoon and after the long day we just wanted to go to the pool. So we dropped our stuff off in the room and quickly changed. Aspen was in her little floaties and her water chair as I was pushing her down the lazy river with me. I was so in the moment I didn't realize that David had got it on camera. Aspen was so happy that nothing else mattered in that moment. It was just me, David, Our Miracle and her little sister coming later this year. We were set. We stayed in the pool till five and then decided to go out to dinner. We started to take Asp to the luau but the smell of pork was beginning to make me nauseous. Of course I tried to pull through and didn't tell David until he saw my pale face. "Babe? Are you okay?" He asked gently putting his free hand on my back. I exhaled and nodded. But then somebody walked by with a plate of pork and that set me off. I ran to the bushes and tossed my lunch. When I was feeling better David guided me away a little bit. "Talk to me." He whispered.
"I wanted to give Aspen new experiences like a luau. So I've been trying to hold it in and not smell it but the pork is really making me nauseous." Tears were coming down my face now and David wiped them away before kissing my head. "You don't have to pretend your okay baby. We can come back here another time when you aren't pregnant okay? Now let's go get pizza hmm? Does that sound better?"
I nodded gratefully and we walked away from the smell. Before exiting one of the hosts came up to us. "Leaving already? There's much more fun to be had!" He said with a really big smile. David cleared his throat before speaking. "Yes we are leaving because my wife here is pregnant with our second child and the smell of the pig is making her sick. So yes I'm leaving because I'm not going to subject my wife to something I can control. Have a nice day. So we ended the night laughing over pizza with our beautiful baby girl.
