Chapter 9.

Ellie's POV:

                                                                     8 months later 

"Here you go." The nurse said as she handed mom the baby wrapped in a yellow towel.

Mom smiled widely, and rocked the little bundle in her arms.

"What a cutie!" The doctor said, picking up her clipboard.

"Thanks Dr. Baker." Mom said.

"The baby has even got a tad of blond locks, and bright blue eyes." She stated.

Niall and I looked awkwardly at eachother.

"Are you the father?" Doctor Baker asked Niall.

Niall scratched his head. "Errr...."

"Wait a minute. You're Niall Horan...from One Direction! Right? I used to love that band!"

Mom quickly budged in "Excuse me? He's not the father, and please get him out. If you're going to talk about One Direction or whatever, its not going to be by me." She sighed.

Doctor gave an "oops" face quickly to Niall, before shooing him out. "Sorry, only family permitted at this time." She explained as Niall started persisting for a stay.

"Then who IS the father?" Niall demanded running away from the doctor, and towards the hospital bed.

Mom shrugged.

"How do you NOT know that?!"

"Security!" Mom yelled, cradling the baby tight in her hands.

"Shes right. You shouldn't expose the baby to such heavy sounds. He is a newborn, very prone to things that aren't healthy for his age." Doctor Baker stated, snapping her fingers, the two nurses escorting him out of the room.

"At least find out who the father is!" Niall shouted.

The door shut, and Niall was finally gone.

"Mum...who is the father?" i asked quietly, only for mom and my new sibling to hear.

Mom looked at me with bright puzzled eyes, that were flooded with water.

"Ne-never mind. Sorry." I said rubbing her arm, soothing her.

"Although, we do need a father in this picture. At least some kind of explanation. For the bith certificates and all." Doctor Baker explained, tucking her Bic pen behind her ear.

Mom sighed. "Truthfully..." She sniffed.

"I don't know." She finished.

Doctor gave her an 'Uh- oh. What? How?' face before nodding and writing it down on her clipboard.

"We're going to have to do genetic testing, then strike up some pedigrees." She said.

"How long will that take?" Mom asked, smiling at my new baby brother.

"Hm. Could take a week or so. But in the end, we'll know everything." She said.

Mom nodded.

And after a silence, mom broke out before the doctor took the baby away.

"I think i'm going to name him Eli."
