"Ham, Hannah, wake up. Wake up, idiot." I heard someone say, no, scratch that. I heard someone shout.
"I don't want to," I managed to reply in a groggy voice.
I was continued being shook by someone and I groaned before slowly opening my eyes.
I finally woke up and saw Hailey standing by my bed.
Wait, Hailey?
I quickly got up and realized I was dressed in complete white, and everything around me was white too.
"Am I dead?" I asked slowly.
"Nah. You're just deeply unconscious," Hailey replied, to which I let out a sigh of relief but also felt a little bit disappointed.
Yay. I'm not dead. Let's party!
Half sarcasm noted.
I wish I were dead though. I would get freedom from all the pain the world has given me. "Hail, you're a ghost right? Please kill me? Pretty please?" I asked Hailey with my puppy eyes but she smacked me upside on the head.
I guess ghost Hailey is not affected by my puppy eyes after all.
Suddenly I got another idea, and asked,
"Hail, why don't you just kill Mark?"
Hailey was silent for a while, before she replied with guilty eyes, "I can't kill the person who killed me."
Too bad. "Do you know why does he want revenge from us?" I asked her.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you that. I was only sent for a few minutes to be with you in your dream, and then I will have to go back. As for the revenge, you have to find out yourself." She replied.
"How am I supposed to find out?" I whispered.
Hail just smiled. I stared at my twin for some time more, not wanting her to move away from my sight.
I sighed as my eyes were filling again when I realized that she will have to go back soon. Her time in this world is over. "I miss you, Hail. So, so much," I whispered softly, and I saw Hailey's own eyes soften at my sudden declaration.
"I miss you too, Ham."
My chest constricted at that, hating the distance of life and death that's separating us. I want to be with her, to hold her, to have her by me at all times.
But I can't, because Mark Adams killed her. Murdered her brutally. And I can never have her by my side again.
I tried to touch her by extending my arm forward and cup her cheek. Her glossy eyes could show the vulnerable state she's in even as a ghost, and she closed her eyes as she leaned into my touch. She opened them and leaned forward before kissing me on my forehead. Suddenly I laid back down as I felt my whole body go weak. My eyes were becoming heavy and so I closed them.
Hail might have thought that I have slept, because she murmured, "Just a few more days, Ham. Everything will be alright. Just a few..."
---
I opened my eyes and woke up. I got up and sat down on my bed. Hailey... Once again she has come in my dream.
I turned to see the clock showing 1:23 p.m. So it's afternoon lunch time.
I got up and sat near the window. I looked down to see everything quiet, no noise from the birds, no vehicle to be seen on the road and no commotion from the apartment.
Then I suddenly realized something and looked up. There, that man who lives exactly opposite from here. He was the one stalking me and informing Mark about me. If only I could set fire to his house with just one look.
