I had just landed in Detroit, my new home from now on. Surely I was excited to live in a new city and especially because I would move in with my best friend Veronica, but I knew I would miss my family terribly.
6 month ago I had won the lottery jackpot in Germany and got 90 million euros, which finally gave me the chance to run and hide from my abusive and psycho ex boyfriend Edi. Countless times he had beaten me and every time I had tried to run, he had found me.

Probably because I had no money to disappear....

And when he had found me it got worse. This man saw me as his property and therefore he thought he could do everything with me that came to his mind. Not even my family was capable of helping me, he had told me countless times that he would hurt them, if I ever told them what was going on and so I stayed quiet. I had started secretly to safe money, so I could get away from him one day and then 6 month ago I saw the lottery jackpot and thought, why not try it....

I still can't believe that I really won, but I guess it was Gods way of giving me a second chance in life and to finally be free.
I had never told Edi about the win. I had waited till the money was on my account, then packed a few of my personal belongings and while he was at work, I disappeared. I took care of my family and could finally tell them what I had went through for over 12 years. My mother was shocked, my brother Klaus wanted to kill him and my sister had cried the whole time.
After all that I got a restraining order and made sure Edi could never hurt me again and then Veronica, my best friend which I funnily had met on Instagram 2 years ago, became the offer to work in Detroit and she took the offer to get away from her abusive ex.

We both went through so much....

When I had told her about my money we both saw it as a new chance and that's when we decided to start a new life together in Detroit, Michigan....

"Bestiiiiieeeee!!!!!" Ronnie yelled through the arrival hall of Detroit Airport when she saw me and I smiled widely. "Gosh I can't believe you're finally here!" We hugged each other tightly and then she helped me to push the carrier, with my suitcases outside to her rental car.
"The hotel suite is amazing. Thank you for booking it!" She told me when we had finally got all my suitcases in the car and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"You really just didn't thank me?" I asked her and she chuckled.
"I did, get over it!"
"Ronnie if you thank me because of a damn hotel suite, what the hell you going to say when I buy us a house?" I asked her smirking and she laughed out before she answered me.
"I'll probably kiss your feet lady." She made us both laugh with her stupid comment and I looked out of the window at the city. "By the way, I found a few houses we can look at. They got everything you," she stopped when I looked at her with a raised eyebrow and corrected herself, "we want." I nodded approvingly and smiled.
"Where are they?"
"Clinton Township a little outside of the city. It's a gated community and I thought it'd be better to live there, since I'm moving in with a fucking Multimillionaire." Again she made me laugh and by now we had arrived at the hotel.

The service person were very helpful and let our bags get unloaded out off the car and then brought up to our suite. To be honest even after 6 months I had to adjust to having all this money, it was still new to me that everyone was immediately changing his behavior when I pulled out my black Amex to pay. The only thing I had done so far was buying houses for my family and giving them money, so they'd never have to worry about anything anymore and for sure I had went shopping, but that was it.
"When do you want to take a look at the houses?" Ronnie asked me when I had plopped down on the couch in our suite and I shrugged my shoulders.
"As soon as possible would be good. We have 1 month till you start working and I would want to have everything ready and moved in then." I answered and she nodded, grabbed her cellphone and dialed, before she walked out off the room.

"Get ready and changed, in 2 hours we have the first appointment with the realtor." Ronnie ordered me when she came back in and I sighed. "What you wanted to have an appointment as soon as possible?!"
"Yeah, but I just arrived here after a 9 hour flight, bestie." I whimpered and she chuckled.
"Get your lazy ass up."
"You and your vulgar way of speaking..." I told her jokingly which made her laugh.
"Bitch, I can get much worse!" And with that she made me laugh also.

2 hours later we stood in front of the address and waited for the realtor.

I hate when people are not on point!!!

"You sure it's the right address?" I asked Ronnie and she rolled her eyes at me.
"For the 10th time, yes!" She answered and I chuckled, while I walked to the rhinestones and threw my cigarette in.
"You shouldn't do that the neighbors here are weirdos!" A woman who had just walked by told me and I looked at her.

I know that face from somewhere........

"Then I think that's a reason to not buy the house, I guess." I said back and she laughed out.
"Please buy it, I could use some neighbors in my age class here. By the way, I'm Kim" she stuck her hand out and I shook it. "I live right beside you." She said and I smiled.
"I'm Tina and that's my best friend Veronica." I introduced myself and pointed at Ronnie who stood still in front of the house, talking on her phone.
"Sorry for asking, but you sound like you ain't from Detroit?!" Kim asked carefully and I nodded and smiled.
"Right, I'm from Germany and she's from Texas." I answered her and she looked at me surprised.
"Okay?!?! Now you really have to buy that house, because I want to hear what's bringing you over here." She laughed and I already knew that I could be good friends with her, she seemed like a very relaxed and nice person. Exactly the kind of people I liked.
"If the house is as I want it to be, I'll buy it and invite you for a coffee and then I'll tell you." I told her and she nodded.
"Buy it, please. Honestly it's a wonderful house, but when I moved here my ex decided to build a new one for my daughters and me, otherwise I probably would have bought that one from the previous owners." Kim explained with a smile and I nodded.
"Well, I don't think it's that bad if your ex is nice enough to build you a new one?!" I asked her and she laughed.
"Yeah, you're probably right. I'm happy we have such a good friendship now. Hey I don't want to be all pushy, but if you have some free time after you looked around the house, why don't you come over and we can drink a coffee and talk for a bit?!" She offered and I looked surprised at her.
"Actually that would be great, but let me check with Ronnie if she made other appointments." I answered her and turned to Ronnie and asked her yelling, if we have free time later. She nodded in response and I turned back around to Kim who stood there laughing.
"You so have to move here, with the way you're acting around here, I won't be the only one the other neighbors would hate!"

Oh my god.... who are these neighbors???

"Let me guess, only old people are living here?!" I asked her while rolling my eyes and she nodded still laughing. "Great, my personal nightmare!" I muttered and Kim laughed even more and then the realtor arrived and jumped hectically out off his car.
"Well, I think you have to go. It was nice to meet you Tina and don't forget to come over later." Kim told me and I smiled and assured her that we would see each other later, before I turned around and walked towards the realtor with a pissed expression on my face.

From where do I know Kim?!?!?!?!
