Hayate the combat butler: The missing link

Thanks to all of my readers for going through my fanfic. I could never imagine this story will have more than 150 views.

This chapter is a P.O.V. of Sakuya Aisawa. She is celebrating Nagi's birthday right now. So today is December 3rd, as the first year after Maria's departure completes.

It is great to see Nagi smiling. I remember just an year ago how shocked and depressed she was when Maria suddenly left.

I never have seen her laughing at my jokes before today. But Isumi and Wataru are so bored contrary to her. Maybe she is accepting stupid things more freely now. Well, I am not saying my jokes are stupid....but she is different now.

And I was so afraid about today. Last year, her birthday party was horrible. She was so vulnerable as she found out Maria's letter. Even that stupid butler could do nothing. All the guests were surprised by her sudden change of mood. Only we could understood a little how she felt.

Nagi panicked this year to have a party with all of her friends. Maybe the misery and embarrassment of the last year haunted her. She never was so weak publicly before.

I think she has one more reason this year to refuse to have the party. Her economical status maybe. Just last year she was in so much luxury and it'd be hard for her to even arrange the snacks if more people came today.

So, in Nagi's rented apartment we, the four childhood friends are only present. Chiharu and Kayura went somewhere else for the night. Wataru assured her about the publicity of her mangas in his shop as a gift. His business is going quite well these days,seems Nagi's opinion has helped him. Our birthday girl is brilliant in Economics after all.

Isumi gave her a bouquet she made from the flowers of her garden. She is even cooking our dinner now. And I came up with lots of jokes that only geniuses like me can make out, not them. And Ayumu,gave her a handmade greetings card in the morning.

We arranged the gifts so that she cannot feel down for herself. Luckily this 15 year old girl is overjoyed right now. But I think the greatest gift she got today was from the old man. Grandpa let her spend the day with Tama and Shiranui.

Speaking of them, Tama was so sad that he refused to eat for a few months after she left. We tried to cheer him up, but that cat was too dense. Untill Nagi guessed something herself and phoned them to sooth with her voice. And that worked magically.

Klause nearly threw a party to celebrate today as well. He thought at least her birthday celebration will continue. But grandpa strictly declined. He is probably mourning over it and cursing Hayate somewhere.

Nagi's singing was a wonderful surprise today. Even I did not know about her this talent. Isumi says she should compose and sing songs for her manga to increase the publicity. I wonder how much effective it will be though.
