Hayate the combat butler: The missing link

Time for the birthday celebration

It is Hinagiku Katsura again. She is in the midst of celebrating Hayate's birthday on, you know, 11th November.

I never thought it'd actually be of so much fun. Nearly two years ago, I was afraid of our love-rivalry to affect the natural friendships among us. Silly me, it seems it became much more stronger in the past year. At this point, I appreciate me of an year ago for confessing. Our truthfulness is the root of our friendship I think.

Still, I thought Hayate would refuse to have a birthday party. But he accepted it as a opportunity to have our old fun time back.

So now, we are in my home. Not within the main building, but at the extra room that my sis use when she is not in Hakuo. Hayate has been here before, when he stayed with us. Well, there was only me mostly. I asked my sis to stay in school today too. One thing led to another and the student council trio came to know about that. They are also with us now. And Ayumu is here too. Chiharu and Aika visited earlier to greet him. And he told me that Isumi also wished him.

He was too busy on his 17th birthday about the inheritance issue and Maria's then-upcoming departure. So we could not do anything last year. While he gifted us in each of our birthday. He looks so hyped up now, and more cute. Perhaps he has been cuter as an 18 years old.

And the most unbelievable fact is, my sis gave him a cake today. Though it was a small one, still she did. Or maybe it is the least she can do after all the hassle Hayate had to pass through to transfer to his new school, for failing in the admission test in Hakuo.

Today's party reminds me of the one we had a month ago. It was on Atan's birthday. We arranged a huge surprise party at the school as the very next morning she flew to the Greece. That was a farewell party as well as a thank you party. For the great success of our school fest, it only happened because of her. She became so overwhelmed that day, her eyes became teary when the party ended. Maybe we would be graduated when she will return again.

Today has been a great refreshment for all of us. We all are studying really hard for our studies. We are trying our best to be admitted in the college that we will choose. I still haven't decided my stream though. I must choose it carefully before I become 18 myself.

After the party, Ayumu and me went to sleep inside my room. The trio went home and Hayate stayed in that extra room for the night, his home is furthest of all of us. I suddenly became absentminded and so much nostalgic. When Ayumu asked me the reason, I thanked her. For letting us to be friends. We could support ourselves to overcome the rejection. She is the most helpful friend I have ever met.

Ayumu declined, and said that, everything became possible for Hayate. Though indirectly, but he taught us to be in love. Life has become so colourful from when we met him. I could not disagree.

I added, it is for that girl too. She was initially arrogant and all, and still refuses to admit her fault publicly. But she has a broad mind indeed. For her, I could met him and could befriend Ayumu. Though she was so possessive back then, but most of the time she let him do as he wished. That gave us the space to spend time with him. As we all were becoming closure, her days of suffering went on. She accepted that sportingly and is managing to be a better person each day. Although three years younger than us, but she is awesome in her own way.

Ayumu nodded as we missed our only friend who was missing today, Nagi Sanzenin.
