Sam walked around town swaying their head to their music. A soft song played from their earbuds to their ears. A favorite of theirs . Well at least ONE of their favorites. They enjoyed this kind of day. The sun was shinning, bringing warmth to their exposed shoulders and neck. They held their book bag as they walked. Nothing much was in there. Couple of books and paper.
They stopped walking once they reached a gas station. they open the door, a bell ringing as they walked in. This place was like a second home to them. To others it was just a gas station, you can fill your car up with gas, and or quickly buy something. But to Sam, it was more than that.
"Hey Sam!"
Sam turned their head to the direction of the voice. Behind the cashier counter stood Izumrud. Izumrud was one of Sam's best friends. Maybe even their best. Izumrud was a tall man. He had hair as black as coal, and as messy as a bird's nest. His hair was long and in a ponytail over his shoulder. He had the greenest eyes you had ever seen. Sam refused to believe they weren't made of emeralds.
Sam was kind of jealous of Izumruds looks. Sam was just a person with short light brown hair. Their messy bangs were not far from their eyes. Their eyes plain ol' mud brown.
"Hey." Sam took out their phone and stopped their music, which had changed songs already. They took earbuds and put them in their pocket, not caring if they got tangled. As Sam got closer Izumrud jumped to sit on the desk, he sat legs crossed as Sam placed their elbows on the desk and rested their chin on their palms.
Izumrud chuckled as he rubbed his friend's head. Messing up their hair. "Hey quit it." Sam said swiping away Izumrud's hand. Izumrud laughed once more. "What's so funny?"
"You're so small." Izumrud said winking.
"I'm not small!" Sam protested. "You're just...huge!"
"Yeah. Okay." Izumrud hopped of the counter back behind desk copying Sam's pose. "So."
"So?"
"Are you gonna buy something or just stand there and hold up the line?"
Sam quickly looked back embarrassed. They was about to say sorry when they realized nobody was there. They turned their head back to their friend. "HA. HA. HA. Very funny."
"I know it is. But with all serious." Izumrud lifted his head. "Tell me the truth. How was the first day wearing women's clothes?"
Sam blushed slightly with embarrassment. "W-Well.....I got a couple of stares....but...that's it..." Izumrud have them a warning glare. "I-IT IS I S-SWEAR!"
Izumrud sighed picking up a tooth pick from his pocket. "You better not be lying." He said playing with the pick. "I don't want you to get beat up..."
Sam shuffled their hands in their pockets. "I rather get beat up...then hide the fact I'm non-binary..."
