Elmer and Sam walked in their room. They shared a room together. They always had and they didn't plan on changing it, even when they moved out from their parents. Them and Izumrud each shared an two bedroom apartment. With Elmer and Izumrud with jobs they are able to pay the rent fairly easily.
Sam jumped on their bed face first and muffled a little scream.
Elmer turned his head towards Sam. "What's up?"
"I think I ate too much...." Sam said their face still buried in their pillow.
"Well that's Thanksgiving dinner for ya." Elmer said getting undressed then muttering something about his binder.
Sam shot their head up. "It's not even Thanksgiving!" They groaned at the thought of food and dropped their head unto their pillow again.
Elmer glanced at Sam. Memories softly came back into his mind. "You know Sam?"
"Hmm....?"
"If it was Thanksgiving..." Elmer ignored Sam's groan. "I know what I would be thankful for..."
Sam rolled over. "The same thing you always are thankful for everything Thanksgiving."
Elmer turned towards Sam. "I can't thank you guys enough for taking me in! And...accepting me."
"It's not big deal. I mean," Sam turned so they were lying on their side. "You would've done the same to me. Or Izumrud."
"I know...I can never repay you."
There was a short silence before Sam said, "I never met somebody as happy as you are to be adopted."
Elmer scoffed. "Put yourself in my shoes."
Sam threw a random small rock at Elmer hitting him on the shoulder. "Dude, your shoe size is like...ten sizes bigger than mine."
Elmer let out a short laugh. "It's just two; you know that's not what I meant."
Sam rolled on their back. "When does Izumrud come back from work?"
Elmer was on his back as well on his bed scrolling through on his phone. "I don't know, soon I guess. If he doesn't stop by his girlfriend's house that is."
"Lucky guy has a girlfriend..."
"Doesn't bother me. Ace for the win." Elmer said throwing his shirt by his bed. "Even if I did have a girlfriend or whatever, Izumrud's girl is one beast."
"A beast. And not in a good way."
"How does he put up with her?" Elmer said confused. "I mean, she's so bossy and always shouting at him..."
"Despite that he's always smiling so warmly at her..." Sam said slightly jealous..."I wish I had someone to look at like that...with love."
"Come on, bro!" Elmer shouted at Sam.
"What?" Sam said confused looking at Elmer. Elmer had a shocked face on him. Like he couldn't believe what he just heard.
Elmer put his hand to his chest. "You sayin' you don't love me?"
"Oh my gosh, Elmer." Sam said putting their hand on their face but smiling underneath.
"I thought we were bros!" Elmer continued being melodramatic. "I'm heartbroken! I feel betrayed!" He jumped up on his bed and struck a grief-ridden pose, as if someone shot him through the heart. "My heart has shattered into a thousand pieces and is falling into the black void of emptiness..."
Sam kept their pose but their smile was even wider. "You're making a fool out of yourself."
"Oh God why! Why must have you forsaken me?" Elmer looked up with a sad look. His fist in the air."My one and only true love has denied me!"
"Elmer, I will throw this pillow at you." Sam warned shaking their pillow.
"Romeo, oh Rome-" Elmer was cut of by a pillow hitting him in the head.
"I warned you!"
Elmer threw the pillow back at Sam and went back to his bed. "Alright, alright I'm done."
