Grabbing a quick snack from the back, Izumrud checked out for the day. He took his back-pack from behind the counter and head out the door, saying goodbye to his co-worker. He was glad work was easier today. Finals where this week in college and he really needed to study. He got in his car and started driving. While he was waiting at a stop light a concern popped into his head.
"Oh shoot, do I have..." He quickly checked his bag. His books where gone. "Craaaap....I must have left it at Sarah's...." When he had the chance he turned around and drove to Sarah's apartment.
Izumrud got out of the car and walked up to the second floor. He knocked on her door. Seconds later a girl opened the door. Sarah. Her long, brown hair was in a low, braided ponytail. "Oh, hi Iz!"
"I left my books here. I think..." Izumrud said.
"Yeah...You did. So forgetful." Sarah huffed. "I left them on the couch." Izumrud walked in. "And do be careful, Nadia just feel asleep."
"Ah, Okay." Izumrud whispered. He found his books right where Sarah said they'd be. He grabbed them when he heard a scream come from the hallway. He quickly turned to see a 6 year old boy running in the hallway toward him.
The boy crashed into his legs hugging them. "Nadia!" Sarah called out. She rushed to the boy pulling him off Izumrud's legs. "I said to stay in bed!"
Nadia flashed a innocent smile. "You didn't tell me greeny was coming over!" Greeny was what Nadia called Izumrud for he had a hard time pronouncing his name. Sometimes if he was really happy, Nadia would use tail.
"That's because I didn't know he was. He forgot some stuff." Sarah sighed. Nadia started flailing his arms around wanted to be put down. "Ack! Okay okay! Watch where you are swinging those!" Sarah set Nadia down, who automatically went and thrown himself unto Izumrud's legs again. "I swear his arms are two baseball bats..."
"Need some help tonight?" Izumrud offered with a slight laugh. "Though it doesn't seem like I have much choice...I don't think I'm leaving tonight."
"Yes, thank you." Sarah went up to Izumrud and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I'm gonna make a quick dinner for you. Good luck trying to get him to sleep."
Izumrud messed up Nadia's dirty blond hair. Nadia's brown eyes shined. Izumrud seen the same shine before.
It was the exact same shine Sarah's eyes had.
