Sam woke up with the most grace. Their snoring was abruptly cut short when they unknowingly rolled off their bed in their sleep and hit their head on the nightstand.
"Ow!" Sam said rubbing their head. Sam looked at Elmer who, somehow, knocked everything off his bed. He was drooling as he slept. "Ugh, Izumrud better be here. He's the only one who can't set fire to the cereal. "
Sam slugged to the other door and opened it, Izumrud was not there.
"Great..."
Sam yawned as they walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. They grabbed the milk and placed it on the table...."Never mind I don't want cereal...." They left the milk out incase Elmer wanted some. They reached for the cabinet and took out a yogurt bar. They fell on the couch and turned on the TV.
Something about a new product was showing. Sam looked through the channels trying to find something interesting. They found a new show that just aired. It was about two kingdoms at war, Oscurioff and Hicune. Sam didn't really find it worth their wild.
Sam turned their head when they heard Elmer walk into the room. "You want cereal, Elmer?"
Elmer barely looked away as he said, "You know I'll end up burning it."
"I'm still confused how that incident happened..." Sam thought back to a moment where Elmer was pouring cereal and how they had stepped out for a moment; when they came back they saw Elmer crouched in a corner and cereal flakes everywhere.
"That never happened."
"Sure..."
Elmer smacked a note on the table and opened a breakfast bar. "From Izumrud."
Sam got up and looked at the note. It said, "I'm staying at Sarah's tonight...Don't set the apartment on fire." 'Thanks Izumrud..." Sam thought.
"Flif if ofer" Elmer said with a mouthful of food.
Sam flipped It over to find more writing. It read, "P.S. Sam you snore like a freaking grizzly bear." Sam quickly crumbled the note and threw it behind him.
"So that's why Izumrud is...not here." Sam was blushing as red as an tomato. "I need a drink of water." Sam opened the cabinet and saw that the glass cups where on the second self. Sam grumbled a little, cursing their shot height. They tried reaching on their tiptoes, they just barely could touch the closest glass. They reached and reached but when they tried to push the glass towards them it slipped from their hands and crashed into the floor with a loud burst.
Sam heard a gasp and he turned towards Elmer.
Elmer was in panic. His hands grabbed a corner of the counter and one on the table. He was tense and wide eyed his body hunched over a bit as if he were hiding. Sam could see him shaking. Elmer's breathing was fast and stuttered.
"Elmer!" Sam said worried. Which didn't help Elmer as he became more wide eyed as he looked up at Sam, the fear in his eyes grew.
Sam tried to comfort and calm Elmer and they slowly walked towards Elmer. "Shh...Shh..." Sam started. "Calm down. You're right here. I'm here...relax..."
The fear in Elmer's eyes disappeared shortly and he quickly came back to his old self.
"Go lie down..." Sam instructed calmly with a hand on Elmer's shoulder.
"Yeah..." Elmer said so quietly Sam wasn't sure if it was a word or just breath.
