the rain was pushed aside by the sun. it peaked its head out for what was left of the day.
i have to see josh
this thought was running as fast as the rain had fallen.

he quickly moved to leave the castle. peaking in on his sick father and whispering that he was going out and will be back promptly.

the grass squished under the boy's feet. the same feet that seemed to know where he was going.
the sewing shop. josh's mother had owned it as long as he had been alive.
josh and him used to run around in there together and mostly get kicked out.

a sign still hung the same one that did when he was just a boy, even before he knew josh, mrs. dun would design the finest dresses for his mother. the door was wide open welcoming anyone.
he quickly stepped in.

humming filled the small room, where dresses were hung and suits litter around the store.
pink hair popped up at one of the sewing tables. josh turned his head toward tyler. each meeting the others eyes. both slightly getting lost.

"what can we do for you, your highness?" the young man flinched at the words.
i guess i deserved that

"josh who are you talking to?" a woman's voice came from the back of the store.
"no one mother."
mrs. dun slowly moves forward. her eyes lighting up at the sight of tyler.
"tyler, oh my! how handsome you've grown." wrinkles stretch across her face that doesn't make her any less beautiful.

"madam, its good to see you as always." he says bowing.
"you're just as polite as you used to be." she makes her way over to him with the help of josh.
"how i can't wait to see you rule." his eyes roam over josh's face, sadness in his eyes.

she's dying.

"i'll leave you two alone, seeing how no one wants this old hag here." she laughs. she turns to her son and passes him a wink.
a soft blush rises to his face.

"i'm sorry." both of the boys speak.
"i know you have more pressing matters than just my happiness. you have to worry about a whole kingdom." the words tumble out of the older boy's mouth.
"no your happiness is important to me. i wanted to see you. trust me." the two of them are wearing matching smiles.

"so there's a ball coming up. it would be an honor if you came." tyler says as josh works on a dress, his fingers making quick work of it. he stops and lifts his head to the prince.
"you want me to come?"
"yes."
"why? i'm just me."
"that's the exact reason."
