tap
tap
tap
something echoes though his room. the tapping yells at him to find it. so he gets up from his bed. his legs slightly wobbly, they're still asleep.
the tapping guides him to his window. he unlatches it, it hitting the side of the castle.
"tyler!" a yelling whisper directs his attention to the ground.
"josh!? what are you doing here?" he says back cupping his hands to his face hoping that the sound would travel better.
josh instead of answering starts to climb. the white picket that helps the vines and roses grow.
"don't do that you'll get hurt." josh only looks up and then continues.
soft ouches come from josh's mouth. tyler waiting for him, watching as leaves smacked into him with malicious intent. the moon being the only light that's helping tyler see josh.
finally josh's hands reach the window frame, it creaking not liking josh's weight on it, and he pulls himself over.
"what do you think you're doing?"
a sheepish smile spreading on josh's face.
"coming to see you of course."
tyler shakes his head, but still with a smile on him. tyler grabs josh's hands to inspect the damage. he turns on the oil lamp, blood flowing down josh's hand.
"it's fine, don't worry." josh spoke softly, but that didn't stop tyler from rushing to the bathroom to grab a towel.
thorns stuck out of the boy's hand. so tyler grabbed tweezers from his dresser probably left by a maid.
he had pulled all of them out, josh complaining the whole time.
"well next time don't climb where there are roses."

josh takes it upon himself to lay in tyler's bed, of course tyler follows tired and ready to get back to sleep.
"so why did you really show up, not that i'm not happy or anything," tyler quickly interjects when josh started raising his eye brow, "it's just that you could have been caught."
josh looks over that him, kissing him.
a smile breaking out on his face.

"that's not answer." tyler says after he pulls away, laughing quietly.
"i missed you. you haven't come out of the castle in a few days and i wanted to make sure everything was ok."
tyler felt bad that he hadn't gotten the chance to leave the castle without raising alarm, the black family members running around the castle like they own it.
"everything is ok."
"i saw that king black came in, does that have anything to do with you?" josh pulled tyler close like he might fade away.
"no, it has to do with my stepmother. i didn't get much details." josh relaxes at those words.
guilt laid in his stomach.
josh closed his eyes looking happy and peaceful.
tyler does the same, trying not to think about what is to come.

~

tyler moves off the bed trying not to wake josh. leaving to get his suit fitted.
a woman with dark black hair patiently waiting for him.
changing into his black suit fitting him perfectly.
"this will truly be a glorious day." she says sweetly. holding a push pin full of pins and some black thread. her dark brown eyes meeting his.
"i would assume so." he replies, uncaring.
she continues working flawlessly, making sure it fits.
"prince tyler, i know that it is not my place to say but you can't be running around with that silly peasant john."
"josh."
"what?"
"his name is josh."
"it doesn't matter sir," she presses on trying to keep the formality. "and neither does he, you know what your stepmother would do to him."
what if i love him
he thinks.
wanting to scream about how unfair it is. hoping that she can hear his thoughts and how much he means this.

she pauses for a moment only to continue. "you are getting married so you can rule this land, let him go for everyones sake."
she's right, it's not her place to say, it never will be and she is also right about his stepmother.
tyler would never recover if something was to happen to josh because of him.
tyler says nothing back to the woman,  she continue sewing. making the perfect suit for the perfect wedding.
the question is will prince tyler be the perfect groom.
