I folded my black jeggings and placed them on top of the massive pile of clothes that sat in my purple suitcase. It's Friday, scratch that, it's midnight so technically it's Saturday and of course I waited to the last minute to pack my suitcase for this California trip that my dad just told me about a few days ago. Our flight leaves at 7 in the morning meaning we will be sitting on a plane in 7 hours. As much as I am not so happy about spending the week with the Simpsons, I have to say I'm pretty excited for this trip. I have never left the east coast of the United States before, making this the furthest I have ever traveled. We are spending a week in California but I won't be missing any school because we are out on spring break.
I looked out the window at the black painted sky and saw the petite figure of my mom still attempting to put her and my dad's luggage into the back of her car. I was surprised she was up this late still preparing, but given that my dad gave us such short notice on this trip, I guess it only makes sense.
Sam and I have talked a bit since Monday and he apologized to me, but we didn't really talk or hang out much this week. He knows about my vacation. It's weird how we basically were together everyday and now we don't even see each other much anymore. He has been acting different around me and I don't like it.
I fit one last dress into my suitcase after double checking that I had packed everything I needed. I attempted to pull the zipper of my bag from one side to the other, only to fail. By slowly propping myself onto the suitcase I was able to put enough weight on it to successfully zipper it. Now onto my carry on bag. Rummaging through my messy room, I picked all my necessities for the plane and threw them into my large, brown, leather satchel.
After I was finally pleased with my packing skills it was already 1am. I decided it would be best to get a few hours of sleep before we had to leave for the airport at 430.
...................
My slumber was short lived by my mum shaking my shoulder in attempt to get me up at 4. We needed to double check we had everything and get ready before we leaving the house at 430. We are going to meet the Simpsons and pick up some breakfast at the airport so we didn't need to worry about eating here. With a moan escaping my lips I rolled over and out of bed to try to look like I didn't just wake up. My pajama pants were dropped to the carpet as I brought my over-worn black leggings up my legs. I threw on a pink jumper and put my hair up in a bun after quickly brushing through it. I wanted to be comfortable on the 6 hour flight, but I also didn't want to look like complete death, so I put on some mascara and Chapstick. I brushed my teeth and grabbed my carry on, since my dad had already taken my suitcase out to the car, and walked sleepily down the stairs. I was definitely going to be sleeping on the plane.
It was only about a 15 minute ride to the airport but knowing my half asleep state, I fell asleep in the car. Only to be woken up in what seemed like seconds later by my dad. My door was already opened from my dad, so I climbed out and walked to the back, where the trunk was open. My purple suitcase was easy to grab since it was on top, I pulled the handle up and slung my carry on over my shoulder.
Once we entered the airport, we had to get our luggage situated so it would go on the right plane, and get delivered to our hotel room when we arrived in LA. After our bags disappeared into the airport somewhere, we preceded to security.
We were set to meet the Simpson's at the coffee shop inside of the airport after our security was complete. It took quite a walk to get from security to the coffee shop which was located near our gate. But sure enough when we got there, Derek, Brad, and Anne were sitting around the small cafe table, sipping coffee and all staring at their phones. Natalie couldn't come because of the late notice, she couldn't get off of work. As we approached the table they all looked up from their phones. The blackness on Brad's eyes had definitely faded but were still visible, I guess at this time in the morning they could even be confused as sleepiness. Even with the barely visible redness he still managed to look pretty good, as if without any effort. He have me a small smile and I gave a half heartedly smiled back, kinda feeling bad for what somebody did to him. I greeted Anne and Derek before getting in line for my highly needed coffee.
I ordered a small coffee and a hot breakfast sandwich, to fill me for the flight. While I was standing, waiting for my food to be ready I felt someone walk up behind me, and of course it was Brad. The grey beanie resting on his brown curls matched the sweatpants that hung off his hips and the lettering in his navy jumper.
"So, it looks like we are sitting next to each other on the plane," he said as he stood next to me with his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"So, it looks like we are going to have to act like we like each other on this trip," I said not really responding to what he told me. My order number was called from a middle aged woman who stood on the opposite side of the counter. I grabbed my brown paper bag and hot coffee instantly taking a sip of the scorching beverage.
"No, it looks like your going to have act like you like me," he said, as we walked beside each other back to the table. Time to start acting..
