≪ Shinya's P.O.V ≫

Finally it was Friday.

Guren had been ignoring me the entire week and it felt like he had shoved a sword into my body and every time he ignored me, it would keep going deeper and deeper. At lunch, he would sit with his friends and when I finally had the courage to wave to him, he ignored me. In the classes  we had together, I would try to sit next to him, but he would pick up his books and leave me isolated at the table. Sometimes when I saw him walking in the hallways, I would smile at him, but he would look the other way. It almost seemed like I didn't know him. Actually, he didn't know me. I thought after one lesson, he would finally acknowledge me, but no. He's ignoring me even more than he had before. What else could go wrong?

But today. Today is Friday and he would have to tutor me.

After the bell rang, dismissing the last class, I ran to my locker. My heart was racing and my legs were running faster than ever. I reached my locker, shoved all my books and my binder into my backpack, and sprinted down to Guren's locker where I was going to meet him. My heart beat began to slow down as I waited.

One minute.

Two minutes.

Three minutes.

Four and a-there he was!

There Guren was. His cold, dark purple eyes and his normal frown covered his face. Mahiru was next to him, holding his hand with a gigantic smile on her face. My heart stung as I watched the two lovers walking down the hall together. Aoi was next to Mahiru holding onto Kureto's arm with a small pout painted on her mouth. Kureto rolled his eyes and continued walking. This was the "popular" squad.

I chewed on my lip nervously as Aoi and Kureto walked in the other direction while Guren and Mahiru approached me.

"Uh.. hi?" I asked shyly unable to hide my flustered face. Every time Guren laid  his eyes on me, my legs turned to jello and my voice wavered.

"Shinya, hi! What are you doing here?" I looked up at my sister who answered with one of her fake smiles. In the corner of my eye, I saw her squeeze Guren's hand.

"I'm here for my tutoring lesson."

"Tutoring lesson?" She sneered, "Guren teaching you? Hah, you'll never get good grades. Plus, Guren can't have a lesson with you today, he's busy with me."

I knew she was jealous. I could see the flames dancing in her eyes.

"Sorry Mahiru, but I need to give this idiot a lesson or else my grades will drop down." Guren said as he let go of Mahiru's hand to get his things from his locker.

I couldn't believe it. Guren just defended me in front of Mahiru. Kinda.

"Well I want to come then." Mahiru replied, crossing her arms in front of her chest in annoyance.

I watched as Guren tensed up for a moment before reacting to his girlfriend's command.

"Right... yeah you can come I guess..." he mumbled. Mahiru clapped her hands excitedly and wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's waist while he was still packing.

"Thank you Guren! I love you so so so much!"

I cringed as I watched them. It was almost as if I was in a movie theater watching a cliche romance movie play out with my sister as the main actor. Romance movies disgusted me. Nothing really happened like the movies in real life. A jock never falls for a nerd. And a nerd never falls in love with a jock. That's just what the producers of the movies want you to think. Then, in real life, reality hits you like a brick and you realize that you are forever alone.

Mahiru leaned in and kissed Guren's cheek. Guren grimaced a little as he zipped his backpack and slung it over his shoulder. He took the car keys out of his pocket and handed them to Mahiru who squealed in delight when she was told that she could drive. Guren rolled his eyes and began walking to the car. I followed behind them and stayed quiet as they chatted about boring stuff.

I guess this is what it feels like when you are the third wheel.  I sat in the back of the Tesla by myself. It felt as if there was a brick wall between Guren and I. Whenever I tried to get myself involved in the conversation, Mahiru would tell me to shut up and Guren would just ignore me. So I stared out the window, watching a blur of buildings pass by. There was a moment of silence before Mahiru plugged the AUX cord into her phone and we had to listen to her Justin Beiber and One Direction playlist. Neither I nor Guren enjoyed it.

When we got to Guren's house, Guren and I sat down at the table in the living room to start working. We had all our books and supplies neatly set down. Well, at least Guren's side of the table was all neat. My side of the table was scattered with lots of papers, books and pencils. Each time Guren tried to lecture me, Mahiru would interrupt us with dumb questions and each time, she wold give her boyfriend a disgusting kiss.

The whole afternoon turned out to be pointless. I wasn't able to study at all due to the fact that Mahiru kept coming in to kiss Guren and my jealousy was going a bit overboard. When Guren was distracted by his oh-so-sweet girlfriend, I started packing my belongings. As I stood up to leave, he looked at me and pushed Mahiru away who was trying to kiss him on the cheek.

"You're leaving? Let me escort you out." He glared down at Mahiru and stood up. Mahiru tried following us as we walked down the hallway towards the door, but Guren told her to leave us.

My heart fluttered when we got to the door. I didn't want to leave, but with Mahiru around, it was hard to make a move. I opened the door and let myself out, waving a goodbye to Guren. Before I could leave, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me close to his chest.

I could feel my heart beating like crazy and my cheeks felt warm.

"I'm sorry about today." He sighed.

"I-Its okay." My voice wavered. I wanted to see the expression on his face, but I was too embarrassed to lift my gaze off of his chest and look him in the eye.

"I'll make it up to you next time. We can go swimming if you'd like."

I couldn't believe it. He invited me to go swimming again.

"Well, I guess I'll see you around." Without warning, I could feel his warm lips on my cheek and another second they were gone. Guren let go of me and with a sad smile, shut the door.

My heart felt like it was about to explode. I wanted so badly to open the door and tell Guren how I felt about him, but instead my feat dragged me off of his property and onto the sidewalk where I would walk home.

I touched my cheek where he had kissed me. It was still warm.
