I was in my office, gazing at the view of the whole world in front of me. You could see the amount of traffic from here. You could see the people walking to the market near their houses to get groceries. You could see a mother with her son from here. You could see, and observe what was going all around the place that my office revolved around. And that was what you could do. You could just observe and try to figure out whether a particular couple, that was greatly in love and was smiling at the moment ever had tears in their eyes, pain etched on their face expressions and long sleepless nights because of the quarrel they may have had at dinner time.
It was times like this,
when I, Ali Hashim, ever thought about all the people who might have ever passed by this office door.
Times like this when i stood in front of this wall sized transparent window that i could ever think about my life. About the girl in my dreams.
The girl who felt like a splash of paint and colour between all these people who walked to and fro to their destinations. I still remember, two months back, it was a stressful day and then between those hours of stressfulness, she had caught my eyes. Infact, it wasn't just her, but something about her that wouldn't let me work. She was miles down while i was on the third floor, in my room, and i could still see her, clearly, like she was the only person my eyes would love to reflect upon. Like she was a path of light between the darkness that revolved around and within the brain of us humans. Like she was my hope, in a place full of hopelessness.
A knock on the office door had startled me as i had almost forgotten the place i was at, lost in my thoughts.
"Come in."
"Sir, the meeting has been postponed as they can't make it to London because of the cold whether back in their place." Adam, my secretry replied.
"Thats good. I was tired anyway. Do we have any other important things pending? If not then i can head home."
"No sir, we have nothing pending left. You can head out whenever you like. I might leave in a bit too sir."
" Oh yea. Thats totally fine as we have nothing to do for today. Ill see you tomorrow Adam."
"Ill see you tomorrow sir." And saying that Adam had left my office. And i just stood there, looking at the clock, looking at it while it ticked closer each time. Closer to the moment when she would pass by. And i was here trying to make my mind up, whether or not should i confront her today.***
