Chapter 18. Mitsuki Ruto

"Ayano, I need your help!" Oka called form upstairs.

Ayano paused Deathnote and ran upstairs and found Oka struggling in the bathroom. She was trying to get her hair in a specific hairstyle.

"What is it?"

"I need your help putting my hair in two buns." Oka sighed.

"Sure." Ayano made two nice buns in Oka's dark blue hair, leaving a strand over her face.

"Thank you... Yan-sama." Oka smiled and went into their room, Ayano following close behind.

Oka grabbed something from her side of the closet, a black dress. The sleeves were lacy and the dress showed a lot of back (like most of the dresses in this book) and then she put it on.

"What are you getting all dressed up for?" Ayano asked.

"Nemesis and I are going somewhere." Oka replied.

"You don't mind me asking where, do you?"

"The graveyard."

What the hell..?

"Why are you going to the graveyard?" Ayano asked.

"Well... Today is my older sister's birthday. Well... If she were alive..." Oka looked at the floor grimly.

"You... You had an older sister?" Ayano seemed shocked.

Oka nodded. "Her name was Mitsuki. She was the best sister and friend anyone could ask for." Oka sighed.

"We gotta get going, Oka." Nemesis was at the door and was leaning against the door.

"Nemesis, bear ears?" Oka asked, pointing to her two buns.

Do they absolutely have to have bear ears?

"I-I'm not feeling in a bear-y good mood. Get it?" She chuckled at her own joke.

"B-But Mitsuki would want you to wear..." Oka's bottom lip started trembling.

"Okay, okay! I'll do it. I'll be right back." Nemesis threw her hands in the air in defeat and walked into the bathroom.

"Wait one sec." Ayano said and followed Nemesis into the bathroom.

"What the hell is your problem?" Ayano shut the door behind her.

"What? I just didn't want to have bear ears." Nemesis shrugged and put her short hair in to the best bear ear as she could.

"Let me help you." Ayano grabbed her hair that was covering her other eye and Nemesis slapped her hand away.

"N-No. I can do it..." Nemesis smiled nervously.

Ayano knitted her eyebrows together and moved her hair out of the way of her eye.

An eye that didn't exist.

Ayano let go of Nemesis' hair and staggered backwards.

All Nemesis had under her hair was a white eyepatch similar to Supana's.

"N-Nemesis? How?" Ayano was confused. The last time she moved her hair out of the way she had two red eyes. Now, she had one.

"My boss wasn't happy with me when he discovered I let you live. Before I left town, he cut out my eye as punishment." Nemesis said, trying to blink back a tear but failed, the simple tear finding it's way down to her chin and dropping.

"I'm sorry..." Ayano apologized.

Nemesis looked at Ayano with her one bloodred eye and smiled.

She hugged Ayano.
