Serena

So far,  Daniel hadn't been kidding when he promised that he would make it up to me. He's been taking me out, surprising me with flowers and candy,  and has even been spending more time with Sapphire.

I was just wondering how long all this was going to last.

I was sat next to Daniel on a bench, overseeing Sapphire as she played on the playground in the middle of the park. I watched as she ran around laughing and playing with the other kids her age. Seeing her so happy and carefree made me wonder about how she would be as teenager. Naturally my thoughts wandered to my own teenage years. I remembered how Leah, Nicki, Raena and I had been so close. But I had no idea where Raena was now, or what she was doing with her life. I remembered how overprotective my dad was, and I remembered how that one summer changed my entire l-

"So I want to take you out today."  Daniel said, interrupting my thoughts. My attention shifted to our hands as he interlaced our fingers.

"Really? Where to?" I tried to sound excited, but failed miserably. I know it was Friday, but all I really wanted to do was sit at home with Daniel and Sapphire.

"I was thinking we could go dancing or something." As if I even had a choice.

"Sure."

When I told Sapphire that it was time to leave, she swore up and down the playground that she wasn't going leave. But as soon as I threatened to take away the Tv, she didn't put up a fight. That girl had an unhealthy addiction to Martha Speaks. She'd probably give up a kidney for it.

Once we got home, I gave Sapphire something to eat before leading her across the hall to Ms. Georgia's apartment. I rang the doorbell, and a few moments later Marie opened the door. Sapphire gave me I quick hug before rushing past Marie to get inside.

"Why is Sapphire always so eager to come over here?  You better not be giving her any candy." Marie laughed.

"No, its because we have a pet hamster. She loves playing with it."

Marie and I talked a bit about school and work before I had to head back over to my apartment to start getting ready. I made my way to the bathroom to take a shower, and once I was done I searched through my wardrobe for something to wear. I found a found a strappless black dress in the back of my closet, and slipped into some gold heels. My look was completed with a matching gold necklace, and I stood in the mirror admiring my outfit.

"Serena!" Daniel shouted from the kitchen. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I made my way towards his angry voice. My purse and it's contents were scattered across the floor, while Daniel was stood in the middle of the mess glaring at me murderously.

"What's the problem?" I asked as I made my way over to him. He swung his arm out to hit me but I backed up right before his fist made contact with my body.

"What the hell Daniel!" I backed up to put as much distance between us as I could.

"Who gave you this?" He held up the card that the man from the grocery store had given me the other day. My own temper began to rise. "Why were you even going through my purse?"

"I accidentally knocked it off the counter and everything spilled over, and I saw this." He gestured to the card and began taking threatening steps toward me, but I stood my ground.

"I dropped my keys, and he returned them to me. I've never even seen or talked to him since." I said truthfully. Why did he always have to overreact? Its not like he found a used condom or something.

"Then why did he give you his number?" Daniel was up in my face now , but I was too pissed at him to care. I was in a good mood, but he messed everything up.
