Serena
I continued staring at Craig through the window of Jake's car, only catching glimpses of his face through the crowd that had gathered around him. As we drove further and further away, the 7 eleven slowly turned into a speck in the distance, and even then, I felt as if somehow Craig was still staring right into my soul.
Maybe my mind was making everything up. Maybe I didn't just see Craig Crippen at a 7 Eleven. Maybe he didn't call out my name. Hell, maybe I wasn't even really in California! I was probably still in Leah's house sleeping next to Sapphire. Maybe-
"Serena?"
I was shoved back to reality by the sound of Leah's voice. After blinking a few times, I composed myself.
"Yeah, what's up?" I asked attempting to act normal; as if I wasn't actually reevaluating my entire life.
"I said, what was all that commotion back at 7 Eleven? Those people seemed a little rowdy. And by that I mean they looked like they had seen a celebrity or something. " Leah laughed, making a joke out of it. I let out a fake laugh.
"Actually, I think it was a celebrity. But I'm not sure who." I lied, looking out the window. Sapphire took a chip from her bag of Doritoes and popped it in her mouth. "Are you sure you didn't know him Mommy? He said your name."
I whipped my head around to my daughter and widened my eyes. I loved the girl , but why did she have to have such a big mouth?
Leah furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Why would a famous guy call your name? You don't know any famous guys ..." I could see by the look on my best friend's face that she was piecing everything together.
"Wait a minute ... it was Craig!" Leah exclaimed excitedly. "Yeah, he actually lives around here" Jake said, not taking his eyes off the road.
"Who's he?" Sapphire asked curiously. Chres spoke up before I could. "He's an old friend of ours. We all went to high school together."
"Is he going to be at your anniversary party? I'm a little upset that I didn't get to say hi to him." Leah said shooting a glare at me. I held my hands in the air defensively. "It isn't my fault that his fans couldn't help themselves." Jake laughed. "Yeah, he'll be there."
Leah rolled her eyes at me. "Good. But anyway, how long till we get to the hotel? I'm tired of sitting in this car."
"Don't get your panties in a twist, we're already here." Jake assured her, pulling into the lot. The hotel was huge, and looked as if it were the type of place celebrities or even royalty would stay.
"How much did you have to spend to get us here?" I asked as we got our bags from the trunk.
"Don't worry about it. Just know my wallet is crying." He said with a pained smile on his face.
Once we were inside the hotel we approached the front desk where a blonde, barbie looking receptionist stood with a huge smile plastered on her face.
"Good afternoon, my name is Francesca, how can I help you all?" She was still smiling at us as if her job depended on it. Which in her case, it probably did.
"Yes, I booked two rooms under the name Perez." Jake said, doing his best to avoid looking at the receptionist. She was attractive and had a little too much cleavage showing. I guess he didn't want Nicki to find out that he'd been checking out another woman. Smart Guy.
After a few minutes of Francesca going through the computer on the front desk , her smile faltered for a fraction of a second, but then she plastered it right back on her face. "There isn't anything booked under the name Perez, Sir. Perhaps You have the wrong place."
