Okay, first before this chapter begins, I would like to say thank you to all who read this story. It means a lot to get support on my work, those who follow me and favorite my chapters extra thanks to you. I love getting critiqued on my work so please tell me some ways I could improve, I'm not new to writing but I know for sure I'm absolutely not the best and I'd like to improve so that reading this is a better experience. One big thanks for reading, now let the chapter begin.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today is the day to gather the DNA samples of the SMT workers from their lab. Risky business, but it was a requirement for our mission to succeed.
While everyone was at school playing their teenage lives, Steven and I were in his lab preparing to teleport. He was setting up the machine while I sat in a chair, thinking over the entire plan. While it was normally Jeff and Kayla that controlled the planning, they were sitting in a classroom worrying about whether we succeeded or not.
The plan was pretty simple despite the amount of things that could go wrong. We were going to teleport in a private room (the one we escaped from), Steven will bring his computer and use that to hack into their network and retrieve all the worker data, we'll find the people eligible for the timing of what we need to do, locate each person, get a DNA sample, then bring them safely home.
Again, it's fairly simple despite everything that could go wrong. For one, they might detect someone in their network and locate us through Steven's IP address (yes, I listen to what Steven babbles about). We could also get caught by one of the workers while retrieving the samples. Luckily though, to help with that I have my "powers"{ I prefer not to call them that because this is SCIENCE FICTION, NOT a fantasy universe so I'll just say "DNA gifts".}
My "DNA gift" is to shrink and gain super strength. The shrinking will surely help although Steven can't so that. He is more of a cyborg, he is a human computer.
I'll likely shrink and gather the DNA, that way Steven can stay in the room and monitor the information. But wait, how would he monitor it and tell me?
Wait, I remember a thing that might help. When we were still in the SMT lab, we implanted brain chips into our own heads, WITHOUT the help of those monsters. I won't explain how for the sake of secrecy, but we managed. {Yes this is the author coming up with things, my mind is weird today}.
But anyway, we can communicate through this, why didn't we use this when we escaped? {Plot hole is my only answer... Sorry, I've had a long day and I understand this is starting to be a fantasy plot}
BUT ANYWAY, we can speak telepathically through this, trust me on this.
We could speak to each other through this though and while I'm tiny and searching for these DNA samples, he could be instructing me where to go.
Yeah, that could work.
I saw him finish setting up the teleporter. "Is everything in place?" I asked for good measure.
"Yeah, just one last bit and we'll be good to go, not that it's a good thing".
"Oh cheer up, i know it's possibly the worst place in the world despite Chicago, but if we do this we have a chance of stopping them", I replied with a smile.
"You're picking up on Jeff's humor, aren't you?". He said smiling back.
"It's contagious, you might just become funny too".
"Oh, haha, very funny. You're too good already", he said, actually laughing. "But what makes you think Chicago is so bad? There's other pretty bad cities like Detroit or Miami, I heard the murder rate was high there".
"Why are we discussing this? You're too logical, it's just a joke"
"Fine, fine, I really do need to pick up some humor," he said as he finished the teleporter. "Are you ready to go".
"Ready as I'll ever be".
"Then let's do this".
