The doors slid opened and I stepped out of the elevator. Agents bustled around the main lobby. Some coming in the main entrance while others were leaving. They walked with purpose; their guns in full sight. An Agent never goes anywhere without their weapon. I unconsciously patted my gun holstered on my waist. I seemed busier than most days, I realized as I walked farther into the lobby.
"I'll catch you later," Amir said, as he stepped back into the elevator. I watched as the doors closed once again before glancing at the big clock above the main doors. It was 6:48PM.
"Lily!" Somebody else called. Hearing my name, I searched for the owner of the voice. My acute hearing indicated that the voice cam from the left. Not too long after I turned, I saw Jacob walking towards me. I pulled my dufflebag up higher on my shoulder as I watched him make his way over to me. I noticed that he had a little stubble growing. I'm such a sucker for stubble.
"Hey," I acknowledged him with a nod.
"You okay?" He asked once was he was about 2 feet away from me.
I smiled a little. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
"Welllll, you never did call or reply to my texts," he pointed out with a chuckle.
I looked him in the eyes while I spoke so he knew I wasn't lying. "Jacob, I'm really sorry. Things got out of hand and I-"
Jacob held up a hand causing me to stop talking. "Lils, it's fine." He checked his watch. "I need to get to this meeting. I'll catch you later?" He asked hopefully.
I nodded. "I'll be here until 8:30 at the latest." I informed him. He nodded. He waved at me and jogged off in the direction of the stairwell.
So I have about 30 minutes to kill before my meeting....what should I do?

I let out a groan of pain as the punch connected with my ribs. I fought through the pain and came back swinging. I dodged a quick jab and faked a right punch before sinking my knew into my opponent's gut. He let out a whoosh of air before standing up straight. I swung wildly at his head but he averted my punch by sidestepping it. I lost my balance and stumbled. A swift kick to my back had my sprawling to the floor. My hands hit first with a smack followed by the rest of my body. My head connected with the cool concrete and I saw black and white spots. I closed my eyes and tuned into my other senses. Sensing movement above me, I quickly rolled on my left. Right where my head had been his foot came slamming down. I rolled to my back and using my arms and lower body strength, I kicked myself to my feet. My opponent hurriedly turned towards me. He lunged at me but I grabbed his wrist and proceeded to bend it at an un-natural angle. He yelped in pain while reaching for me with his free hand. I fought off his other hand by elbowing him right above his spleen. He clutched his stomach with his free hand and yelped some more in pain.
"Okay, Agents! That's enough," a voice came through our ear mics. "Lily, it's 7:25. You need to get going."
I let go of Mark's arm and smiled up at him. "You good?" I asked as we walked out of one of the various practice rooms. I glanced at his wrist, which was already starting to bruise.
"Yeah, I will be." He concluded. "I didn't realize that my arm could bend that far without breaking." He said as an afterthought.

I changed back into the black leggings, yellow camisole, and white tennis shoes that I had came in. Instead of taking the elevators, I jogged up the 10 flights of stairs to the company portion of the building. The company floor, or the Business Hall, is where all the legal events happen. We have lawyers that deal with contracts, permits, IDs and so on. Just because we operate slightly under the law doesn't mean we are exempt from everything.
