(Author's POV)

After using the same "I can't hear you" excuse to slip away from his mother's curious grasp, Jungkook headed to the downtown parts of Seoul. He didn't bother putting on a mask or a cap. He purposely wanted to get noticed by fans.

Jungkook pulled up to the same cafe he went to the other week, where he met Seokyeon. He wanted to see her again, especially after lying to his Eomma that she was his girlfriend.

Jungkook entered the cafe, the same welcoming smell of coffee grinds and tea making its way up his nose. Jungkook liked how there weren't many customers in the shop.

A lady was working behind the counter. "Annyeong," she greeted with a smile that didn't nearly compare to the one Seokyeon gave him last week. "What can I do for you today?" She said normally. Jungkook didn't think she was a fan.

"Annyeong, yes, um... is Seokyeon working here today?" Jungkook asked a little too quickly.

The worker raised a suspicious eyebrow. "I'm afraid not..." she looked Jungkook up and down, wondering why he would want to know where Seokyeon was. She had never seen this customer here before.

"Oh, that's alright..." Jungkook didn't want to just leave without buying anything. He paused. "Do you have any idea where she might be?"

The worker started getting more curious. "I heard her tell me she was going uptown yesterday.. to visit a friend or something.. I'm not too sure,"

"Thank you," Jungkook bowed slightly, and ordered a coconut flavored drink. He didn't really want it; but he ordered it anyway, because it looked like business was running low.

Jungkook slowly backed out of the cafe property, and turned into the highway. He carefully watched his surroundings and remembered to put his turning signal on when switching lanes. He even put two hands on the steering wheel.

The car was awfully silent, even if it was just him driving alone. Jungkook turned on the radio to see what was on. He switched from station to station, finding a good tune to play while driving.

"Bangtan Sonyeond-"

Jungkook stopped switching radio stations and turned the volume up.

"Earlier this week, Bangtan Sonyeondan member Jung Hoseok has enlisted in the army, and has currently signed off his contract with BigHit Entertainment until further notice. We wish him all the best, and to stay safe-"

Jungkook turned off the radio with a shaking hand. He wasn't in the mood to hear about this at the moment. What he wanted right now was a close friend that was a girl that he could kiss from time to time. Seeing his hyungs enjoying their love lives made Jungkook want one of his own. After all, if he could get away with lying about having a girlfriend, how hard could it really be to have one?

Jungkook's thoughts began to wander off. He wondered what Seokyeon's number was, what she was really like. He began to think of how she smiled at him when he first came to her workplace, or if she already had a boyfriend.

Jungkook focused his attention back on the road in front of him. He remembered that he was only doing this because he wanted what he told his Eomma to be true, and he wanted to impress her.

Jungkook's phone rang, interrupting his thoughts. He pressed a button on the small screen on his dashboard to answer his phone call. It was from Minghao, one of his Seventeen hyungs.

"Annyeong," Jungkook spoke out loud.

"Jungkook-ah, are you busy right now?" There was a worried tone in Minghao's voice.

"Hyung, I'm driving right now, but I can still talk," Jungkook replied, cautiously switching lanes.

"Alright..." Minghao's voice was wavering.

Jungkook sensed something was wrong, and began to worry. "Hyung, is everything alright? What's happening?"

Minghao went silent. Jungkook was used to people being silent on the other end, but this kind of silence was different.

"It's Mingyu and Wonwoo..." he replied quietly. "Th-they got into a fight..."

Jungkook almost stopped his car. "What do you mean 'fight'...?"

Minghao's breathing became heavy. "Just... come over here, I'm at Mingyu's house..." he informed. "I can text you the directions..."

"No, I know how to get there..." Jungkook's stomach started to tighten. "I'm on my way,"

Minghao thanked him and hung up, just as Jungkook took the next exit.
