Jungkook abruptly turned onto Mingyu's street. The sounds of sirens wailing and the flashing lights of police cars made Jungkook's vision blurry.
He slowly parked his Lexus on the side of the road and watched with wide eyes as two police officers stood on Mingyu's front porch.
Jungkook felt the urge to get out of his car, though he didn't want to at the same time. Instead, he dialed Minghao.
"Hyung, I'm here now, what's going on?"
Minghao's voice was trembling. Loud whispers and voices coming from radios was all Jungkook could hear. "I called the police, don't worry. The ambulance-"
"Is Mingyu alright? Is he hurt?" Jungkook interrupted. He wanted to know if his hyung was okay.
"He's...he's..."
"What do you mean?" Jungkook heard the little kid in him slowly begin to show again. He wanted to sound strong and relaxed, like Namjoon hyung. He slowed down his breathing. "Should I come in?" He offered, trying to steady his trembling voice.
"Yes, Jungkook-ah..." Minghao's voice trailed off, leaving Jungkook even more anxious.
Jungkook slowly got out of the car, his eyes glued to the police cars surrounding the house. He made his way up the driveway and onto the porch beside a female police officer.
"Excuse me," he began politely.
The police officer turned around, a dull expression pasted across her face. "How may I help you?"
"What's going on?" Jungkook's voice suddenly flamed with anger and confusion.
The police officer's expression stayed the same. "I'm afraid I can't tell you that, Sir,"
What kind of police officer was she? Jungkook's stomach twisted again. Being called Sir was just as bad as being called Oppa.
"He's my friend," Jungkook stared straight into the officer's eyes. She looked about Jin's age: around twenty-nine or thirty.
Her blank expression didn't change. "I'm sorry, but I can only let you in if you are a witness,"
"I am a witness," he replied too quickly. "I might know something they don't." Jungkook thought of Wonwoo's jealous expression and the way he scoffed at Mingyu the other day. The two used to be so close, so happy together. How did things get out of control?
The officer didn't budge, though she stepped aside to let Jungkook in, anyway. She probably just wanted him to stop bugging her.
Jungkook entered the white modern house. Mingyu lay on the floor, though Jungkook couldn't see his face. A paramedic was kneeling down beside him, applying something on his arm. Another officer held a notepad in his hand, asking him questions.
Minghao appeared by Jungkook's side. His eyes appeared to be red, but that could've just been his smudged eye shadow.
"What happened?" Jungkook asked again. "What's going on?"
Minghao was breathing at a slow pace, which reminded Jungkook of his brother when he used to get anxious. "Mingyu hyung called me over, he didn't tell me why... and when I arrived... he was on... the ground..."
"Where's Wonwoo?" Jungkook wanted to know more of what had happened. "Is he still here?"
"No..." Minghao replied. "When I came over, no one answered the door, but the door was open. I came inside and I saw Mingyu on the ground. I asked him what happened and he just shook his head and said 'Wonwoo,'"
Jungkook felt his stomach start to churn. He wanted to throw up all over again, like how he felt at the airport the other week.
The police officer approached Minghao and asked if he could ask him a few questions. Minghao nodded, and followed the officer outside.
