The Werecats Mate

Chapter 16

SASHAS P.O.V.

In the following days, we had more and more people come to the castle, ready to do battle to end Vladimir once and for all. There were all sorts of creatures, mainly dragons, though we also had several werecats, bears, even many different birds, I even got to meet a pheonix. They were surprisingly quite a bit like I expected, gigantic birds, that were practically made of fire, this one could even make his fire so hot that it turned blue! Sam said that he was friends with him since they were kids. We even had quite a few witches on our side, most of which were very good at healing, which I'm sure would prove very useful soon.

"Okay everyone, listen up, we will be attacking at dawn, as you should all be aware, vampires are weaker in the sun, we will take them when they are at their most vulnerable!" Shouted Sam from his pedestal in the center of the training grounds, he did a bit of remodling during the week, so that all the warriors coming to aid us, wouldn't have to try and make a trek up the mountain, instead we were just at the base of it. "The dragons will be leading the frontal attack, with me sending manouvers through our link, understood men?!" He asked, gesturing to the dragons in the crowd, they all let out hardy cheers, I could feel their excitement in the air, they were definitely battle ready. "All birds of prey, eagles, owls, thunder birds, griffons and yes this includes you Marcus, you will all be directly behind the dragons, Marcus, you leave us a fire line, don't let them through, everyone else, you will be given spears, remember, aim for the head or the heart, anything else will only slow them, understood?!" All the birds cheered, though they weren't quite as excited as the dragons, a few even seemed quite scared, "On the ground, the cats will be first, you are by far the fastest, most powerful, and quite a few of you have the ability to control magic, those who can, I want on the front, throw everything you've got at them, our battle mages will also be accompanying you, since cats and mages are linked, understood!?" And all the cats let out a might roar, which mixed with cheers from the mages. "Everyone else, will fall behind, any who are injured, or were missed, kill them, we take no prisoners, we want this battle feild stained, understood!?" And the remaining wolves, bears, foxes, well basically all types of predatory animals cheered in unison. "Good, my men will be dilivering your weapons and armor shortly, if you have any, and I mean any problem with your equipment, do not hesitate to let one of my men, or even I myself know about it, I don't want even a single casualty tomorrow, especially not due to someones armor not fitting properly, is that understood?!" Asked Sam, "Yes sir." Could be heard all through the crowd, though the dragons were the loudest. "Okay, get a good night sleep men, tomorrow, we attack!" 

I laid in Sam's arms that night, though I still couldn't get to sleep, I just laid there, enjoying the feeling of having his arms wrapped around me in the protective way he does, I was worried that it might be the last time.

"Sasha, don't think like that." I heard him mumble in my ear, "We will win, if it's the last thing I do." He stated reasuringly.

"Can't sleep either, I take it?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Never have been able to sleep the day before battle, but I want you to." He then stroked my hair, calming me, "Sasha, I won't let anything happen to you, if he hurts you, I will burn him until there's nothing left, honestly I, I'm terrified, of what I would do, if he hurts you." The last part of his sentence, was barely a whisper, his voice breaking slightly at the end, "I can feel it, in my bones, if someone were to hurt you, I'd snap, I know it." He continued, worry creeping into his voice.

"Hey, it's okay, when we're together, it's our enemies who should be afraid, we will make Vlad sorry he ever met us." Just as quickly as it came, I felt his fear leave our bond as he pulled me against his chest, and we drifted off to sleep.

The next morning came early, everyone was up before the sun, preparing for todays assault. I rushed to the armory, to get my armor on, alongside Sam, I was battle ready not long before he was, he spoke to me through our link.

'Your cat looks as if it was made for war, but let me be the first one into battle, I want to take as few chances as possible for you to get hurt, if you weren't as powerful as you are, I would probably lock you up, just to make sure you don't get hurt.' He stated.

'I don't think I've ever seen anything as fierce as an armored dragon, you look like you'd have no trouble stealing peoples treasure.' I joked, trying to lighten the mood a bit, we flew off, accompanied by the dragons, and other flying beasts, as the mages and witches gathered their magic to prepare a large scale teleportation spell for the rest of the army. It wasn't long before Vlad's castle came into view, we stayed above the clouds, out of view of his watch towers. Not long after we arrived at the meeting point, so did the rest of the army, we could see them in the woods, waiting for the signal. Sam let out a thunderous roar, and just as he did, the rest of the dragons followed, along with myself, we quickly descended upon the towering structure, burning anything in our wake, I allowed Corina to take over, as she knew far more of our abilities than I did.

She swooped low, only barely above the ground, and let out a thundering roar, as she did, an explosion of air followed soon afterwards.

'Woah, how'd we do that?!" I asked her.

'We can control all the elements, that one, was air.' She then became practically suspended, and began fiercely batting her wings, causing huge gusts of air, which literally began slicing through vampires, as well as tearing them limb from limb. Though no matter how many we killed, they just seemed to keep coming.
