Sunlight was a really rare sight down in the slums, only a few beams of it were able to squeeze through the thick layer of rocks that covered the underground city. You lived there all your life without ever seeing the surface. You wondered though how the upper world looked like, flowers, grass, trees all of that must be a beautiful sight that you desired so much to see with your own eyes but unfortunately the possibility to leave this place was really low especially for your kind. You were orphaned and had to steal from others to survive down here, and even if not the fee you would have to pay was far to high that you could never afford it anyway.
There was one thing that kept you alive though and that was him, your friend on the other side of that thick rock layer, his name was Reiner. You met him when you wandered around in the tunnels looking for water that floated the small holes on the ground whenever it rained on the upper world, you carried the bucket deep into the tunnels where you discovered a small place that let more sunlight inside than the other places you saw before, and there it was a small glimpse of the upper world that was shown to you in form of a giant tree that was covered in bright green leafs that were brushed through by the blowing wind. A voice was carried by the wind in your direction and you knew it was a human, you called up in a shy "Hello?" until someone walked up to the small hole in the ground. The head of a young blond haired boy around your age looked down into your (eye color) eyes, you jumped a little from fear as you saw him. You pulled your head back and hid yourself from his sight but he had already seen you, he asked for your name and that's how it all started. From that day on you became friends, as much as possible you sneaked into the tunnels to talk with him, he told you a lot of stories about the world up here and of course about the titans who lived outside the walls. Before you realized it he became the most precious person in your life.
You were late because the military police discovered you stealing some food again and you had to go into hiding until the air was cleared. Your feet splashed into the water pits that were covering the ground of the tunnels as you came closer to the meeting point, you hope that Reiner was still there since you were horribly late. You reached the space and climbed up to the top and called his name, he did not reply and so you thought he was gone
"He's gone already... I was to late" you mumbled to yourself and were about to jump down from the rock when his voice replied
"(first name) wait!" you stopped and looked up seeing his face over the hole
"Reiner you are still here" he smiled
"Yeah, I figured that you were in trouble so I waited here until you show up" you smiled because he knew you to well
"I'm sorry, I was caught from the military police again and had to hide, I hope I did not keep you waiting for to long" he laughed
"Don't worry, I am your friend right?" you nodded
"Friends wait for each other, I know you would do the same for me" you smiled happily
"I would!" both of you started laughing together for a while until the mood changed all over sudden
"Hey... (first name) there is something important I have to talk to you about" you looked up to him and noticed his expression, he looked sad
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" he looked away
"I... won't be able to see you again" your eyes widened in shock and you stretched yourself higher to reach the edge of the hole
"W-What? Why?" he sit down and looked into your pleading eyes
"I'm moving away soon, this is the last time I am able to come here and see you" You tried to hold back some tears
"Is it far away from here where you are going?" you asked curious
