Chapter-2

Adjusting to the environment

Meredith's POV

It was already a week after school started. I was avoiding the jerk and for some reason he was avoiding me too. I learned that the jerk's name was Zander. I actually made good friends. I had a group of four which included Joseph and Becca from second year and me and Ellie. I found out that Zander and Joseph were actually really close cousins. I was so shocked. I kept on finding similarities between them. Joseph was really friendly. Zander was a jerk. Joseph had dark eyes, Zander had blue-green captivating eyes . I really really hate to admit it but Zander was really cute and good looking.

It was chemistry now. I have to face the jerk again. I went to my usual seat and turned backwards to greet Alexa, my chemistry friend, but instead of Alexa, Zander said "Good morning, Grand". "WHY CANT YOU JUST LEAVE ME ALONE???? " I shouted. He smirked. Somehow,I controlled myself ."Where's Alexa?" I asked him bossily. "She's there and I don't think we should disturb them" he said pointing at her direction.I looked towards where he pointed and saw Alexa kissing a guy. They were standing near Zander's seat. So Zander probably had no choice but to sit here. I quickly looked away. It was really gross seeing people go all lovey-dovey.

"Feeling jealous, Grand?, I am right here you could do it with me" said  Zander with a smirk. "In your dreams, Niarchos!" I shouted. Chemistry class went as usual. I was packing my belongings when Mr. Barner called me and Zander. I looked at Zander and raised my eyebrows. He also looked as confused as I was. "Mr Niarchos! I'm really disappointed to say that you're  work is really not up to your standard. I don't think you're dad will approve this at all. But it can be improved a lot if you have  a proper guidance. In simple words, you're badly in need of a tutor " he said grimly. "So I want scholarship student  Ms. Grand to tutor you" he said. What? No ,this is so not happening. "Ok, if she's going to tutor me then I'm ready" he said smiling at me. How could he agree so easily? I thought he hated me and didn't want anything to do with me. "Ms. Grand? I am expecting a quick response and I won't take 'no ' for an answer " he said glaring  at me. What was I expecting? Puppy-dog eyes?

I badly wanted to say"no" but my stupid stupid mouth said "sure!". "Perfect!"said Mr.Barners happily. "Now you too better start discussing about when to start and where to meet and all those things " he said waving his hand which clearly meant 'you're dismissed '.

"Really annoying ,right?" Zander asked the moment we left the class. "I agreed so I have to do it " I replied. He gave me his usual charming smile that never fails to give me a cringe. "So when are we gonna start?"he asked. "Saturday ?" I asked uncertainly. "Sure! My place?"he asked. "Your place? You have so many mansions. Where do you exactly live?" I asked. He chuckled and wrote his address and phone number in a small paper. "You're friends are waiting for you. Ellie looks hot today, doesn't she?"he asked pointing at my table. "You like her?" I asked. "No no no. Of course not" he said blushing. I grinned. "Later" I said and waved at him. "Yeah" he replied.

I went towards my table and saw them laughing. "Sup, guys? Tell me the joke. I wanna laugh too" I said as soon as I reached there. "No, it's just that Joseph mistakenly spilled ice cream all over his shirt that day. He finally changed his shirt. And....and when he was flirting with a girl, her boyfriend beat him up badly and spilled coffee all over his new shirt , ruining it again" said Becca between laughs."It was Joseph's black cat day" said Ellie. Becca went to shrieks of laughter again." Oh.....th-that was hi....larious " said Becca. I couldn't understand a word they were saying. What was so funny about spilling ice-cream and coffee on your shirt. Poor shirts. But I also pretended to laugh.

"Mery, what you doing this weekend?"asked Ellie. "Oh! I forgot to tell you guys about it. Niarchos is terrible in chemistry. So, Mr. Barner asked me to tutor him. So I'm going to his place for tutoring. Boring right?" I said rolling my eyes. Ellie and Becca looked curiously at Joseph. "Guys! Not this Niarchos. I know he's very good in chemistry. I mean he's cousin. Zander Niarchos " I said. "You're going to Zander's place. You two will be alone for more than couple of hours! Ohhh so lucky. I wish I were in your place" Ellie said dreamily. "You both like each other. Start dating already. Ugh!" I said. "It's not like that. He's hot . That's it. It's not like I have weird feelings and all"she said . Joseph looked like he was ready to kill someone. "Are you ok?" Ellie asked him. " 'Course I am" said Joseph. But his expression was grim.

The rest of the periods were big bore. While others were sleeping, I had to take notes so that I would maintain my position as a scholarship student. After all the boring periods it was finally home-time. I was about to go towards the school bus because dad had some important works. Just then Ms. Hills asked me to help her with the piles. When I had finished taking all the piles in the teacher's room, the bus had already left. Now I had no choice but to reduce some calories by walking home. Walking alone was the most boring thing ever for me. I couldn't listen to music too because I've heard many accidents about people with headphones.

Don't know where it goes " I was singing 'boulevard of broken dreams ' by Green Day(I know it's a very old song but no harm in singing, right?),as I walked. Suddenly a black Mercedes stopped by my side. "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH" I screamed as somebody grabbed my arm , pulled me to the car and covered my mouth to muffle my screams.
